Supper with Daniel (and the girls) (E & M's in the rocks, Sydney): This was approached with considerable trepidation. On opening it proved itself charming, whole bunchy Pinot. Fresh acidity, lightweight, red over black berry fruits, a little textured burr. And, of course, a touch of wood glue. Over time (less than 30 minutes) it just fell apart, the wood glue note just too over and, like so many wines tonight, it became undrinkable. FLAW.

William Downie Dinner (Sydney, Australia): Stalks, violets and earth with some raspberry and smoke. There is generosity of bright red fruit flavour on the palate without being too forceful. Good length and good potential.

Raspberry colour with garnet at the rim. Classic pinot red-fruit nose but with a twist from subtle oaking which reveals charcoal and tobacco characteristics. Light body; good acidity with rich raspberry fruits. Seductive finish enhanced by the hint of oak. Very good.

A reductive earthy nose. Palate is nice and ripe with a nice kiss of oak. Similar in style to Oregon.
