Sigalas tasting at Stafylina wine shop featuring the producer. This was offered by Claire to us few who remained at her shop long after the tasting was over. So different to the current (2008) vintage we had previously tasted. Garnet in color. Barnyard, red cherry fruit, scents of violets and tertiary aromas. Quite evolved but holding nicely. Medium-bodied and a solidly stuctured with firm tannins, mature but lively fruit and high acidity. Long finish. Very elegant and characterful. As Sigalas himself said, he still considers his mavrotragano as an experimental wine, hence the huge differences between vintages.
