Evolved nose of candied cherry, cinnamon, clove and leather. Medium-bodied, with soft tannins and good balance. Long aftertaste. Interesting and characterful wine. At peak.

Big and oaky wine very similar to T-Oinos Vineyards Avgoustiatis/Mavrotragano blend from nearby Tinos island. Nose has red and black cherry fruit and spice from oak. Also a slight green note is present behind the ripe fruit. Palate is bitter-sweet with licorice, tar, chocolate, dried fruit like fig and raisin, and fresher plum-like and cherry fruit. Tannins are ripe and mellow, acidity is medium and balances sweetness from oak and alcohol very well. Very nice wine, impeccably made if with a touch too much oak. My only reservation is that with such ripeness of fruit and heavy handed use of oak, varietal typicity is difficult to discern. To be honest I have not yet understood the Mavrotragano grape as the few producers who make wine from it often follow very different styles of winemaking. For one thing this variety seems easily able to support new oak. At age six looks capable of further aging of 3 to five years at least.
