NIcely perfumed, with notes of spices, dark red cherries, also some mineral notes. Medium-bodied, with good freshness, medium+ acidity, lower medium tannin and good medium length. A nice, ready-to-drink Beaune 1er Cru. Lacks the thrill of the best vintages but drinking nicely now.

Its been six years since my last tasting (where does the time go...). Bought at auction, I figured I could do no wrong -- a premier cru vineyard in a great 2010 vintage for only $20 a bottle. This has matured nicely -- much more balanced and the wood has faded over time. It's not a wine displaying much fruit but compensates with a supple roundness which is pleasing in the mouth. The finish still has a an ever so slight sense of metal which detracts from an earthy, organic sensorial experience.

A hint of coffee and Kalua in the nose with savory and sweet notes: sour cherry; a bit lean and hard, but classic Beaune. Subtle dark notes with bright cherry and a mineral hardness.

(Tollot-Beaut Corton Clos du Roi) Shown after the Corton as it’s much riper. High-toned aromas that are more forceful, still floral but also a little estery. Ripe with velvet tannin and good length. Simpler after the Corton, but hardly less forceful. Good wine.
