Good to revisit this as it was my favorite Grivot Richebourg. For this particular bottle, it was quite animal and fury on the nose along with dark fruit, almost like a Gevrey. On the palate, it was slightly angular and straightforward for a Richebourg. Enjoyable but far from the heights of the previous bottle.

Nearly opaque deep ruby color with garnet hints. Nose of superbly-delineated red and black raspberry scents cut with noble iron filings and scintillating, perfumed violets. Layers of lithe, rich, but steely dark berry and plum on the palate peppered with molecular iron and anise. Propelled by bright but integrated acidity and filed off tannin. Long finish of elegant dark red fruit, iron, beef blood, and velvety sweet earth. Exquisite detail, complexity and effortless grandeur in a glass. One of the finest showings of red Burgundy in recent memory for us.

Solid, deep, archetypically intense Richebourg. A little oak still. Not a super exciting nose, but overall shows very well.

Very fine tonight with plenty of violets, perfumed and complex if not weighty. A very good showing tonight.
