Found one last bottle of this and it was every bit as good as the one described in my tasting note of 11+ years ago. Has held up perfectly, this wine was fresh, rich and classically styled Bord. Delicious with a standing rib roast of beef.

Chinese New Year wine night (Crown Wine Cellars, Hong Kong): Ruby red, hint of age. Faint cigar nose with underlying black currant. 'Strong' palate. Dried berries. This faded and thinned out Later there was some green apple (tartric acid?). It had died by the end of the evening.

Deep garnet core to a clear rim; absolutely beautiful classic perfumed nose of mature claret; tobacco, leather, sweet fruit softness, almost burgundian silkiness due to melted tannins and acid. At peak. Cherry liquer aftertaste lingers with the cigar box and leather qualities. Shockingly good considering what a steal it was at $14 in the mid to late '90s. A vintage overshadowed by the '89 and '90 craze.
