Has some forest floor action mixing it up with leather and raspberry. It is not particularly deep but is fresh and engaging and has a lacy feel in the mouth. It is complete and harmonious and offers plenty to those interested in subtlety and finesse.

Tea at Alex's (Alex and Fiona's in AMK): Absolutely lovely. This was quite at peak. It had a beautifully matured nose of dried strawberries, and then earth and smoke and herb and a lovely bloom of dried flowers. Wonderful perfumed stuff. On the palate, lovely clear acidity and velvety tannins were draped around a transparent core of red cherries and dried berries and preserved haw flakes, all seasoned with a gentle smoky spiciness. This had a beguiling softness wed to bright clarity - in other words, this had everything I like in a classic Rioja. It was Just thinning a little towards the finish, with a little steely spine sticking out, but otherwise this was really enjoyable. Lovely stuff, punching way above its price tag.

Monthly tasting club LTC 2014-02; "Classical Europe" (@ MM): Carmine red brown. In the bouquet tea, coffee, tobacco and gun powder. Same on the palate. Mocha, lovage, leather and a firm dose of oak. Drinkable and not really unpleasant, but past its prime. No score.

Dainty sweet perked up strawberries and stewed burg like red fruits. Lovely silky and seamless.
