  • Etienne Sauzet's 2008 Champ-Gain is bright gold but blessedly clean & fresh, all about purity and intensity with a nose of Meyer lemon and honey. Nicely balanced palate with plenty of minerality and a good acid backbone. Very good and another decade or so to go but probably not much upside.

  • Same btl as Rocknroller. Served on the occasion of Kevin's (rocknroller) 60th celebrated at Minikahda Club with 12 of us enjoying Vincent's outstanding food & Nico's depth hand with the wines we brought along. 110pt occasion! Well, I've had this twice before and impressed both times. Served along side the '08 Leflaive Pucelles this turned in another stellar performance only slightly edged out by the Leflaive. The minerality, balance and depth here were outstanding. The two 08's made for a killer flight!

  • It's the Big LX Birthday Bash: No Holds Barred (Minikahda Club, Mpls): Light medium gold color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour plus. This was a great flight paired with the '08 Leflaive Pucelles. Both if these wines were in perfect shape and firing on all cylinders. The food pairing with the Fava Bean Agnolotti with King Crab, Mimolette, and Sherry Butter Liaison was out of this world too. The Pucelles was utterly profound in its complexity and penetration. The Sauzet was about purity and precision. Utterly fresh with Meyer lemon, tangerine, peach and a great mix of dried herbs. The palate is lean and chiseled, lively, wet stones, Meyer lemon, peach, citrus zest, integrated oakk, racy and tart. This was less complex than the '08 LeFLaive Pucelles, but really lifted and energized. Loved it, best bottle yet.
