  • Absolutely tertiary and well performing cote rotie with archetypical bacon and herbal spices. Rath light bodied and high acidity. Drink up!

  • Fully resolved with still highish acidity actually working well here. Not super concentrated, but for me, very drinkable now. WS gave it 75, Parker 87-90. some tasters here hated it. For me this is sort coming in of its own now. Will have with babaganoush and grilled steak. Should pair very well. Glad I didn’t throw away my 5-6 remaining bottles. Acidity should keep this going well into its third decade.

    (a) Tasting in Riedel degustazione glass
The wine shows garnet color. In the nose the wine shows high intensity, fresh raspberry/pomegranate fruit core next to leather notes. There is a clear oude kriek sour and earty profile (but quite clean), a few dusty/old oak crumbled notes, iron/rusty notes. Would probably clear up with time.
In the palate, the wine shows the same flavor profile, elevated acidity, pomegranate-like tannins, light to medium body, medium finish. Utterly decadent, fully developed, very interesting profile.
    (b) Tasting in Riedel Performance Syrah glass
The wine is entirely different, the fruit is way in the back, the intensity in the nose is medium, there is an a earthy ripeness here, sous bois, milk chocolate (?) notes, dump tobacco leaves, cinnamon and clove spice notes.
In the palate, the fruit is more to the front, but not as much as in the degustazione glass, the acidity is less pronounced too. The fruit is riper, red raspberry, medium body, medium to long finish with coffee notes, cinnamon again and medium tannins.

  • Allready past its life, just the quite acidic backbone left.

  • Better than I thought, reading the notes here. Yes somewhat unbalanced and still higher acid. But lots of bacon, moos, and CR animalistic acidity. Today with broiled aubergine
