From a 375. Cork was in awful shape but wine was sound. This went super quickly with some otoro sashimi. Noted that this was classic riesling and the balance was impeccable. Got another bottle stashed away and will give it more air time.

From 375ml. Pineapple, peach and orange on the nose along with floral qualities and just a touch of honey. Between medium and full bodied (7.5% ABV) with lots of tropical notes upfront (pineapple, mango), tempered slightly by rich orchard fruit notes (peach and pear). There's very good density through the mid-body, but as other reviewers note, not quite as much as some other Prum GK's. Backside shows tart orange, apple, some citrus notes and a nice blend of acidity and mineral notes along with a creaminess and some honey. But as with the depth, the acidity was not quite as lively as other GK vintages (the 2006 as one example). The highpoint of this wine was the fruit which was juicy and expressive with enough concentration and honey to show beautifully and just enough in the way of acidity to provide structure. This wine has the fruit to last for ages and it should continue to integrate well with additional cellar time.

Tasted the #18 10. Mid gold, aroma has a hint of the tropical, on palette middling richness, some balancing acidity (although by no means zesty). But some roughness - not pure like a top Auslese GK, a bit flabby to be honest. Tasted vs Schmitges 2005 Pralat Auslese*** alte reben – stylistically similar but the Schmitges is better by quite a wide margin. The Prum is decent fun hence I give 90 points. But the lack of purity means I don't think it will age well, rustic flavours will probably dominate. I'd say drink up in the next 5 years or so. Unless you like rustic, in which case, hold?

Classic JJ Prum - opens light and quite mild, but with some time in the glass this starts to show multilevels of complexity and slately joy. Save.
