This series of posts is the continuing saga of a father helping his son (Nicholas) and daughter-in-law (Colleen) realize their dream of starting a winery (www.MaisonHarbour.com) in Burgundy, France. If you didn’t catch my earlier posts please find links to the old posts at the end of this post.

What wonderful year it was for Maison Harbour. Now that I have a few months of perspective I can truly say it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The wines are sleeping in the barrel cave now. Burgundy is under a blanket of white and cold. Planning for the restoration of the house at Maison Harbour is well underway and Nicholas and Colleen are busy searching for new vineyards to add to the winery next year.

For those you who followed along and want to see an update follow the link below to see great video highlights from 2013. Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you enjoy it.

I can only say great fortitude to start a winery, especially in France. Have a great year! A surfer buddy likes Harbour boards.

Thanks and Cheers Scott. It started getting cold here in SC this afternoon. Hope you stay a little warmer over in Charleston.

Robert,

Glad you enjoyed the update. Nicholas and Colleen are looking forward to seeing you at Maison Harbour for a barrel tasting. I hope I'm around when you come. Looks like July - Sept for us this year.

Caio,
Gary

Hi Dennis,

Fortitude is exactly right. The electrical was the prime example of that. Nicholas ordered it in March and only after great diligence and fortitude on his part did it get turned on at the end end of September only the day before our first harvest.

Don't know if you noticed Nicholas wearing the Harbour Surfboards Tee shirt in one of the photos in post 17. It was given to him by John Eaton from Wisconsin when they visited Maison Harbour last summer.

Best,
Gary

Hey Chip,

Glad you enjoyed reading the posts. I wasn't sure about doing them, but with the supportive following I had here on CT I was motivated to hit my Happy Burgundy Thursday deadlines all summer!

By the way is Merlot your last name? If so that's pretty cool.

Salut,
Gary
