White
2010 Château Coutet Opalie Sec France, Bordeaux
89 points
Inaugural vintage

Flight 2 (4 notes)

Red
2010 Château Malartic-Lagravière France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
94 points
Cab Sauvignon 45, Merlot 45, Verdot 5, Franc 5 - Tannins 7/10 and smoother for me than the 05. Classic dry finish and balanced. Overall the 05 and 10 are very similar - the nose on the 05 was not enticing. Long finish

Just a notch below the 2010. The nose has a hint of wet soil. Classic French and very similar to the 2010 for me even though the blend is significantly different. Cab 55, Merlot 40, Franc 5. There is a minor hint of brown starting to show.
Red
2010 Château Haut-Bailly France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Cab 62, Merlot 36, Franc 2. A hint of cassis in the nose. Red ruby color. Tannins 6/10 but the tannins last very long and grow on the palate. In character just like the 2002 and I assume it will age like the 2002 - see notes.

2002 Château Haut-Bailly France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
90 points
A medicinal hint on the nose together with a light cellar. Enjoyable ad not off-putting. Not as red as the 2010 as the rubiness is waning. Tannins are 8/10. A good average Left Bank Cab.

Flight 3 (4 notes)

Red
2010 Le Petit Cheval France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
94 points
My favorite of the tasting. Merlot 53, Franc 47. Light fresh tobacco with a fruity nose of cherries and cassis. Tannins 7/10 and bright red.
Red
2000 Le Petit Cheval France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Franc 54, Merlot 46. Light tobacco on the nose but some of the bright red is fading. Tannins 6/10. This has some acid in the finish - may be closed and needs to reopen?
Red
2010 Château Troplong Mondot France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

This is a massive tannic bomb yet most enjoyable. Tannins 9/10. Merlot 90, Cab 5 and Franc 5. Very young, dark red and ruby and hints of spice.

This could rate higher in future years and can lie down.

2006 Château Troplong Mondot France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Very similar to the 2010.

Flight 4 (6 notes)

Red
2010 Château Léoville Poyferré France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Cab 56, Merlot 34, Verdot 7, Franc 3. Dark ruby and purple. Fresh fruit nose with heavy tannins.
Red

Cab 73, Merlot 21. Still a hint of the ruby. A very soft mid palate with a strong finish. Average cab with strong tannins.
Red
2010 Château Clerc Milon France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
92 points
Cassis on the nose - dark red with 7/10 tannins. Long body.
Red
1996 Château Clerc Milon France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Brown and bronzed with a soft clean cellar hint on the nose. Dry wood. Tannins 7/10. Given my style for tannins this is probably at its prime now. I would prefer it not to soften any more.
Red
2006 Château Pontet-Canet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Tannins 6/10

Flight 5 (5 notes)

White - Sweet/Dessert
2010 Château Coutet Barsac France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Barsac
95 points
The best of the Barsac & Sauternes. Lively apricot and peach with good acidity but a beautifully balanced and sweet finish. Enticing nose. Just super!
White - Sweet/Dessert
2010 Château Guiraud France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
92 points
The last non-organic Guiraud. Light yellow with a light petroleum nose. The nose was a little disappointing for me finishes well.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2003 Château Guiraud France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
93 points
Richer then the 2010 but no nose which was surprising. This had one picking only so not a normal Sauternes.

Sweeter than the 2010 with a similar nose to the 2010.
