The usually always amazing Grange didn’t impress with this vintage- thin, minimal fruit, didn’t materially improve over 6-8 hours, etc. Dumb phase or flawed?

A bit green and needs more time in bottle. After a few hours in carafe a bit of vanilla.

Amazing color for a 19 yo wine. No hint of age. Still very well structured and balanced. Lovely faint nose and finish.

Named after the founder Patrick McNeil's grandmother, this bespoke label, which is unique to every vintage, pictures an actual letter sent to Ellen Redding by Patrick's grandfather. Joseph McNeil began his career as a commercial artist in San Francisco in the 1920s and courted Miss Redding via the U.S. Postal Service from 1925 until their wedding day on August 9th, 1928. Each new vintage and colorful envelope tells their story.

Way too young. Drank over two nights and never opened up. Dark red in the glass...nose is too hot...chalky, dusty on the open w/ minimal fruit and no finish. Likely (hopefully) this will be showing better in 3-5 years.

Absolutely terrific-- decanted for roughly an hour and poured after an 08 Insignia. This 22 yo wine was almost as deep purple as the Insignia. Still incredibly fresh with a classic Grange nose. This will drink well for many years-- dark berries and moderate oak with great finesse and balance w/ a long finish.

Decanted for an hour and returned to bottle before a dinner out. Still plenty of life and was drinking beautifully-- deep purple, dark fruits, chocolate and hint of licorice. Not as impressive as the '85 or '95 / '96 Grange but still excellent. Drank alongside a '90 Clinet and a '92 Massetto and had the slight edge but the Massetto was fabulous as well.
