Great nose full of fresh fruit, light earth but very light on the mount - probably a few years after its prime.

- well balanced with fruit, grass and butter and not like the usually CA Chards - this could be due to the age but was very good.

- huge wine (not worth the $$) and great representation of Petite Sirah.
So big we did not open the port and felt no need to open any more wine.

Good but did not live up to the name at all.
Nice nose with fun fruit aromas, soft mouth and berries but heavy dark plum on the finish that was not that great.

Overall - the lower priced Turley's are usually worth the $$, big fruit with some soils, good big wine
Color – big dark purple
Appearance – clear
Aroma – nice dark fruit, pepper, and red meat, maybe some leather
Body – big big body
Taste – chewy on the mouth with think jam
Textures – heavy acid/tannins
Finish - no heat and heavy, need to move to a desert wine after this

Overall - note worth the $$, also well past its prime. I feel bad because I enjoyed meeting the wine maker and the philosophy but the wine speaks for itself - It was great tasting when we bought it but probably should have had it right away.
Color – nice dark purple
Appearance – clear
Aroma – nice dark fruit, pepper, and red meat
Body – medium but rough on the mouth
Taste – rough and a little plum on the bad side
Textures – heavy acid/tannins and rough
Finish - not much except for heat

A bit steep for a Sauv Blanc of this caliber
Overall - good, crisp with green and flower notes
Color – a little dull but clear
Appearance – crisp
Aroma –light green grass to hay and flowers with hints of melon
Body – refreshing but not crisp
Taste – light grass, flow with more apple than melon on the palate
Textures – medium to no acid
Finish - mild

Dinner Valerie, Paul and Ariel - Chicken
A good CA wine but I am finding better values in other Pinot produces right now - it did not help that I had this followed by a RR Williams Seleym Pinot.
Overall - good wine, big bright red fruit and flower, they did a great job on demonstrating Cali Pinot Style
Color – Bright dark cherry
Appearance – crisp and clear
Aroma – big read fruits with a floral smell as well
Body – crisp with medium tannins and acid
Taste – fresh plum, dark cherry, and maybe some anise
Textures – medium
Finish - this was big up front and then ended with a light finish, I find this common with some Cali Pinots

I always get nervous about drinking WS to early but this one was perfect - one of my favorite things about WS is the balance from start to finish a constant enjoyment.
Overall - great wine, bright red fruit and a little light herbs on th nose and a more traditional Pinot or somewhere between Cali and Burgundy
Color – Bright cherry/raspberry red
Appearance – crisp and clear
Aroma – light herbs, bright red fruit with a floral smell
Body – light and crisp with soft tannins and acid
Taste – a little light herb and full of crisp cherry fruit
Textures – clean
Finish - strong from start to finish

Valerie, Megan for Dinner - homemade ravioli, burrata and sausage
Overall - well balanced from start to finish with great fruit aromas (let the bottle breath for about an hour) - keep buying and great for the $$
Color – Light Cherry read - the bottom of the bottle became cloudy, which was upsetting
Appearance – brilliant and clear - until the last pours
Aroma – beautiful red fruit, strawberry, raspberry with hits of cool green leaves (I find both Hirsch wines have this and love it)
Body – light body and mouth
Taste – crisp acid, fruit and green leaves
Textures – smooth
Finish - light red fruit, with a stronger acid

With Valerie and Parents - folks cooked a spiced pork, corn and chilies - excellent meal with wine
Overall - well balanced from start to finish but nothing dramatic or impressive - a good wine but I always look for more from WS, the nose really disappointed me but still good just not matching the $$$
Color – Light Cherry read
Appearance – brilliant and clear
Aroma – seemed a little hot with hints of red fruit and missing something
Body – light body and mouth
Taste – not to complex, lighter cherry fruit and earth
Textures – smooth
Finish - light red fruit, I would like a little more but at least it had a finish
still a buy but might think twice if the price goes up.

Body – smooth, light body, more of a warm day pinot
Taste – not to complex, fresh light rasberries

Great wine for Salmon or pork on the bbq days when it is warm, a little light right now but very nice and smoth

Xmas day with some solid fruit, cheese and a few items with chile spice. This did not live up to the G potential food. Might be the age and taken a turn downward. The wine had some floral nose but was missing the tropical fruit and intense flavor we were looking for.
Color – grass yellow but probably going brown
Appearance – Clear
Aroma – Floral but no fruit
Body – A little light on body and intensity
Taste – basically like old grapefruit, not terrible but probably pretty good a few years ago - oops
Finish - almost none
We need to try some Alsace G wines in the future to get a real taste of the grape at it's best, it is on the wish list.

On Xmas eve after two duds we finally opend a sure thing. With Valerie and Megan and braised beef short ribs for Dinner. This was a perfect wine with the beef, good acid and fruit but it also had a sweetness that really made it go well with dinner. This wine is a great buy from Holdredge (note to self buy more Zin from H).
Color – nice red/purple
Appearance – Clear but not brilliant
Aroma – Nice soft smells of red fruit, mostly raspberries, and maybe even some sweet jam
Body – Nice heavy body but a good balance of tannin, sweet and crispness
Taste – fresh raspberry, and jam flavors, good balance of acid, tannin and fruit
Finish - A decent medium finish,
This is a good wine with decent structure, enjoy almost anytime but perfect with heavy meats that have fat and salt with the unique sweetness of a zin. This is the wine you want when you bbq on a warm summer night, buy a case and throw a bbq with friends.

We opened this in Xmas eve and like the other VJB's I have opened I am not a fan. We have two friends who have relationships with the winery so we have some gift bottles and bottles from our membership. I can't even properly review the wine I was so disappointed. If this was a $10 wine maybe but at their prices I am happy I am no longer a member. Sorry, the family is wonderful, friendly and throws a great party - hopefully some of the other wines will be better. I think I enjoyed their Syrah stay tuned, I really want their wines to be good.

I bought this with my brother and father in 98 while living in France. I brought it out for Xmas eve, gave it some time out of the bottle and it had good bad, very depression especially knowing I have another bottle of which I have been saving both - time to cry and make a trip to France for some more wine buying.
