Fading and well past its prime

87 points
Small but distracting amount of VA in the bottle really detracted from an otherwise very nicely balanced and elegant wine.

very pretty nose of roses, lavender, and toast. Extremely stemmy tannins dominate the palate, and the fruit is barely perceptible underneath. Not enjoyable at all right now, even after day 4. No idea if it will come together eventually, but I definitely wouldn't open other one for at least 5 years.

Not giving a lot of pleasure right now, but lots of upside. Hold for at least 4 years.

Reticent nose for a riesling; green apple, lime, lychee, balanced acidity; just not giving a whole lot right now. Starting to think I shouldn't drink any JJPrum wines this young...

The wine had a dominant green pine/resin note of the nose that remained over 3 days. Disappointing.

Very tight, even after 8+ hours decanted. Seems to have potential, but no pleasure right now. Hold until 2027+?

This bottle had a distracting amount of VA... still drinkable, but not very enjoyable.

Consistent with the last tasting note, the wine is very muted, showing some reticent sour cherry / cranberry notes on the nose, but not much else. In the mouth it's a bit hot, with prickly acidity and a short finish. Notes were consistent over 3 days. As the last tasting note mentioned, this doesn't seem at all consistent with the other previous tasting notes. This bottle was from the BerzerkerDay sale.

Deep, very well structured and nicely balanced, but much too young to drink, and needs a lot of time in the decanter.

Very tight and heavy for the first few hours; very much benefits from decanting. After a few hours of air, the nose was much more effusive with almonds and white flowers, and the mouthfeel became both lighter, more balanced, and a tough racier. Still, doesn't seem to have improved over the last couple years...

Sweet strawberry and clove on the nose; very ripe on the palate. A little hot and disjointed on the finish.

Seems to be going down hill; less textured and a bit more hollow on the mid-palate than last time. Somewhat disappointing given the pedigree.

Aromatically beautiful with notes of lilac, tar, underbrush and red berry fruit; light bodied and quite restrained on the palate; it gives the impression that it's holding a lot back, and not very forthcoming. Hold until 2012, at least.

3 years since the last bottle, and the wine has completely integrated with lots of fruit coming through, verging on overripe (for Oregon). Tannins are moderate, and acidity gives it a refreshing lift on the finish. The nose, however, is still largely MIA, with mostly vague medicinal notes.

Needs a couple years for the oak to integrate and the tannins to calm down.

MUCH better than the last bottle (which seemed damaged). Elegant with effusive inner mouth perfume; very good balance and good acidity; light body; secondary/tertiary flavors predominate: dried leaves/garden mulch, tree bark, and a hint of dried rose and spice.

Seems like it's in a dumb phase, like the volume is just turned down really low on the aromatics and finish...
