Gorgeous dusty tannins, tangy and vibrant red fruits (I disagree with those who find Cazetiers replete with black fruits). The nose tells the story that unfolds in the glass over several hours. Just lovely!

What a wine treat! First of 6 bottles purchased at auction, with sunken corks. An esoteric lot, for sure. After cellaring for 8 weeks, I decided to open around noon today in anticipation of dinner. This wine flourished throughout the day, and by dinner, it was all silk-velvet-lace-cherries. Absolutely stunning! And more demonstrative and silky than the reticent 05 Roty Griotte I opened a year ago.... Reading the comments below, they make sense as I tasted the LeClerc Griotte throughout the day. But even a 1996 requires air and patience. Not a pop and pour; class in a glass.

Hits the spot! Upon opening, the nose tells the whole story.
An hour of air is all that is needed to fully enjoy... for hours. An excellent wine for the money

Reading some of the comments below, I just don't get it.... The 2000 Carraudes is absolutely lovely upon opening--gorgeous nose, silky tannins which is what Lafite is all about. Cedar, bergamot, tart cherry all emerge after 30 mins. Much more than just a classic Pauillac! Can't wait to see where this goes over the next few hours and in a few years!! Wonderful value for a second wine.

On Day 2, corked and refrigerated overnite, this wine finally absolved itself of its hollow acidity noted in previous comments here, gained weight, texture and suppleness. Spicy, a different kind of Pommard. Not fruity or luscious like the 2005. To Jancis's point, there is a lot going on here.... but this wine needs more cellaring time. I won't touch another bottle for quite a few years and meanwhile will enjoy the 2005!

This is an emotive wine. A collector's anticipation to taste it after years of cellaring. The nose and aroma are intoxicating. The tastes evolve with air, as they should. But the spicy finish permeates every crevace of the mouth--for minutes. Unique and fabulous! Savor alone.... or with someone you love.

Lovely red fruit, wood on the nose. Opaque crimson. Robust legs. Firm tannins melt away into dusty lusciousness after just a couple of hours. No decant, just left the bottle open. Cherry, spicy, earthy, meaty, chewy, beguiling aromatics. Corking the remaining half and looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow :)

Day 2, this wine gained all the power and momentum it is known for. Happy to have 3 bottles left 🍷

I tasted AXR for the first time, and while I agree with prior comments that the tannins are strong and aeration needed, that is a natural element of a good and indeed great wine. This wine needs 5-10 years, but it has gorgeous structure, profound dark fruit, weight, and finish. Even though it is neither at its peak nor really approachable now, that does not diminish this wine's quality or beauty. AXR 2018 is a sleeping beauty; to grade it as mediocre underscores such graders' ignorance.

Lovely premier cru for the money! Medium bodied, picks up weight with aeration, aromas of barn yard, soil, mushroom and spice. The tannins are well integrated, almost velvety at this juncture, the wine is in a fine drinking window. Just what one would expect from a premier cru of a fine vintage. For all the less than complimentary reviews below, I would just say such folks don't enjoy red burg!!

What a lovely wine! Bought at HDH auction as more affordable compared to drinking up my Chevillon NSGs and this delivers. Aromatics, spice and vibrant red fruits on the nose, everything one wants from a stellar vintage. Enjoyed over 2 days, and additional layers and velvety textures revealed themselves. Would buy more if I could!

Having read the previous notes on this wine, I somewhat agreed until.... Day 3. Corked and refrigerated with a nice glass or 2 over three days has proven rewarding, as the wine takes on a unity and depth that was lacking upon opening and aeration, and just starting to show by Day 2. There is wood, spice, red fruits, but over time the wine gains a silken texture that makes Malconsorts a wonderful Premier Cru. Do not miss and be patient for Day 3.

Ranks among my favorite Chevillon wines, surpassed only by the 2002 Les Saint Georges! Gorgeous garnet color, nose of wood, dark fruits, sexy legs along the sides of the glass. Medium bodied on the palate, the spice and floor of wood provide beautiful structure. And the finish is lengthy. Paired with a roasted pork sandwich, soft VT goat cheese and spicy mustard. Tantalizingly well paired.

Exquisite bouquet upon opening! Ethereal cherry and white pepper notes sparkle with every sip of this luscious, elegant Vaucrains. The wine is medium bodied, silky and refined with velvety tannins. This is the first of nine bottles purchased at auction a year ago. I think this will be on par with Chevillon's 2002 Les Saint Georges in the years to come!!

Stunning NSG! Medium bodied, medium garnet with a nose of white pepper, leather and rose. Needs 45 mins decant to really blossom. Refrigerated and finished the bottle next day. Flavors more developed on Day 2. Lovely, so glad I bought a case!

Opened after cellaring post-purchase for a year. Gave it time to settle. In a word, glorious, but..... it gets better. Upon opening and into the first evening, there is a silky texture and beautiful notes of cherry and black raspberry. And spice. But after recorking and refrigerating, Day 2 was magical. This is a great wine that developed a velvety, complex texture absent the previous night. This is the magic of vosne romanee. I rate this a 95.

I echo the comments below. Phenomenal in a word. The wine is a beautiful deep garnet, medium bodied +, gorgeous right from opening and improves naturally with aeration. Bouquet of dark red fruits, mellow tannins, spice and bramble. By bramble, I mean an earthiness I can't quite describe.... Bought 6 bottles and would snap up all I can find.

Upon opening, I noticed some recent seepage which in no way showed through to the capsule. Delicious, luscious wine actually! It is a joy to drink from the moment it was poured and only gets better. Cherries, berries and red fruits galore, nice spice and acidity. Fully mature, and with some evidence of seepage that is not yet damaging, DRINK NOW!

Beautiful Beaux Monts! It is musky yet silky, peppery but dark fruit dominates. And the finish..... divine. Grivot is up and coming. From a bottled cellared for a few years. Cellaring makes all the difference. Wines recently transported never taste as good--for those who think this wine is overrated and did not have a wonderful drinking experience--check your bottle provenance.

Consistent with the previous comments, this wine needs time to aerate. For my taste, it drinks much better on Day 2 after being refrigerated overnite. Next day with 2/3 of the bottle left, I find a better balance of acidity and tannins with cassis, red fruits and, of course, vosne spice. Quite lovely!

I had to read the professional critic notes to identify what I was tasting in this wine--licorice! I never opened any of my wines from the 2005 vintage--I did not think they were mature, this wine is beautiful. Rich color and flavor, soft tannins. Years of life ahead of it, but go ahead and enjoy this exquisite bouquet of dark currant, licorice, bramble and long, silky finish.

Gorgeous! Everything one would want in a Bonnes Mares--muscular and structured, powerful spice and aromas of blackberries, cassis and stone. Tannins are there for beautiful structure, but not overwhelming. Beautiful from the moment it was corked, it just keeps evolving and the finish.... over 45 seconds.

I just did a meditation on happiness and gratitude, but I don't think this has influenced my judgment on this Bonnes Mares in any way. Perfect wine to celebrate good life!

This wine is very special, and indeed it is not for everyone. I opened it to serve with dinner, it is too heavy and fruit forward to accompany "dinner." I chilled it and served it with cheese and black currants. Phenomenal chilled with pungent soft cheese!

I was so looking forward to tasting this wine as I bought a case, and when I tasted it, I winced. Really?? This wine is acidic, tight, in a word a disappointment. Over several hours, it began to open up a little bit, but the acidity was still almost stringent. I cannot taste anything else, and so I poured Meiomi California chardonnay in my glass of Pucelles to balance it out and make it palatable. I have a cellar full of Puligny-Montrachets, this is the only disappointment..... Latour, Jadot 1er crus better than this!

DECANT, let breath for several hours. This wine is MAGNIFIQUE, but still yields significant tannins which mask the beautiful fruit, chocolate and full-bodied spice. Refrigerated after opening and was superior the next day. With aeration and decanting, the 2001 Angelus is divine now, and clearly will improve with cellar age another decade.

This Musigny wine, by a celebrated producer, tastes like BARNYARD, and is worth $25. This is a prime example of how the burgundy wine market is overrated and inflated by the filthy rich. No one should pay hundreds of dollars for this wine, it is an interesting, peculiar wine. But the price and attention it receives are disgraceful! AVOID

Light and medium garnet with a bit of transparency. Lovely bouquet on the nose, petals, cherries and wood. Subtle tannins give way to a medium-bodied, juicy wine. In great drinking window right now!

Gorgeous! The wine blossomed within 90 mins, lovely to taste it as it opened up. The wine has great grip and structure, beautiful fullness and notes of cherry, berries and dried rose petals. Tertiary flavors present. Definitely agree will buy more if I can find. Very approachable now and drinking beautifully

Such a fun experience! I purchased a vertical of Chave Hermitage blanc from 2000-2013, and since there are 3 bottles of 2002, I decided this vintage I would try first. Notwithstanding some of the modest ratings, this wine does not disappoint! It is silky, lightweight and full of flavors--toasted almond, white flowers, honeysuckle and just enough acidity for balance and structure. Beautiful floral finish. Drinks very well on it's own or paired with food.

Building on past comments, I opened this bottle several hours before a dinner of veal chops and roasted vegetables. Actually, I just received a big wine delivery from auction and decided to uncork this 2005 Clos de Vougeot and sip as I added the new bottles into my cellar. Delightful experience! Solid tannins melted away into a beautiful bouquet of dark berries, graphite, herbs and a lovely finish. It was exciting to taste this wine at all the different intervals as I emerged from each trek down to the cellar. Now it's dinner time!! I would buy more if I could find.... Fabulous value.

I first tasted this wine about 6 months ago when I first added it to my cellar. The first bottle was a bit oxidized and I couldn't get a true sense of the wine. The second bottle is outstanding! It is extremely well balanced and structured with just the right level of acidity. Round, full, notes of toasted nuts, vanilla, marzipan and citrus. I am drinking the 2011 Latour Corton Charlemagne next to the 2012 Blain-Gagnard Batard-Montrachet (rated 93 across the board), and I prefer the Corton Charlemagne! Highly recommended, if you can find it!!

Gorgeous mature nose of noisette, ripe apricot and candied lemon peel. Very well structured, silky smooth, and tasty floral finish. Opens up beautifully. Enjoy!
