Ultra pale salmon color. Split bottle between the 3 of us from the list at Geronimo. This fit the bill nicely tonight. It's been awhile since I've had this and I will say it is my favorite of their lineup. Very fine and aggressive bead greets you from the start; lovely red strawberries, subtle pic crust, and yeast on the enticing nose. The palate is light, but well defined and very finessed. I love the pretty red berries, more strawberry, but still ripe raspberry comes through as well, dry, light and tingly, medium plus finish. Really enjoyed this, and I do need to add this to our summer repertoire at the very least.

Retail $16. Very Heavy Bottle (887g; 1lb 15oz). 100% Pinot Noir. OK. I am not going to lie: we bought a *ton* of this wine to serve my father-in-law when my wife's parents come over for dinner. Since they live a mere 250 feet away (not advised. At. All.), they come over often. Really often. Look, I love my in-laws, they really are fantastic, truly. But if I have the ball on my 20 yard-line, they are closer than a touchdown, and barely further than a couple of first downs. That is a bit daunting, if I am going to be honest. As for the wine? Always solid, always a good value, and always "good enough" to convince my FIL that it is actually a much more expensive champagne.
Acquired 2 years ago, disappointing for most of my family group tonight. Some claimed it was too “sweet” others thought it a little bitter. I thought it was pretty much as expected. Lightly fruity, yeasty and yes a touch of RS but wholly reasonable for its price point. I think I have spoiled my family with too much great wine!

Pours an Aperol/Campari orange. Has a slightly buttery/brioche nose. Palate is really bitter and slightly sweet with some minerality. Tastes almost like an aperol spritz with an orange slice. Interesting for the price, but probably won't buy again (except maybe for making a spritz!)

Fairly nondescript in aroma and flavor. But no off flavors (or any strong flavors), making it perfectly adequate for an occasion that calls for sparkling wine in which no one will be paying much attention. Has a high level of carbonation.

Very pale pink color. Drank 2 glasses over two hours; from the list at Coyote Cafe. The nose shows bright strawberry aromas, yeast, biscuit and subtle floral notes. The palate is light and finessed, bright and delicate, strawberry, yeast, and very clean. We really enjoyed this tonight. Not complex, but very well done and a very good QPR.

Hints of strawberry shortbread and green apple on nose. Balanced acidity and brightness on palate. Dry but softened by the fruit, not astringent. Short but pleasant finish. Pairs well with cheese and summer sausage. Outstanding for the price.

Color is a very light orange pink. Strawberries, lime and something saline. Small bubbles. First time having it and I think I may prefer it over the Blanc de Noirs and estate brut.

The Fourth Annual World’s Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine; 12/20/2021-12/23/2021: Retail $16. Darker than most of the others in this group with an orangish pink, I guess it is a salmon (more Alaskan than Atlantic). The strawberry dominant wine is flanked by flintiness and minerality, both of which I find compelling. There is also a hint of matchstick, which is a concern that the fermentation was a bit too warm. The palate has good fruit and tartness, but the sparkle is a bit too aggressive. A nice wine, but pales in comparison to some of the others here.
Retail $18. 100% Pinot Noir. We have been drinking this for years, decades (?) even and it has remained one of our favorite value/quality sparklers (and one we often serve to my in-laws). My previous notes hold true. Very Nice.
Super easy and cheap bubbles but not necessarily the most delicious. This isn't priced like champagne but nor would anyone mistake it. Decent though paired with food and good QPR.

Easter Brunch 2021 (Flemings, Walnut Creek, Ca.): Ordered with the Key Lime pie, great pairing, both very fresh, tasty, and here we go, nose of lemon/lime, strawberry and spring flowers, same on the palate, medium/big body, tasty, very floral, fresh, crisp, mouth filling fruit, lots of tiny bubbles produced a lovely mousse, and a flavorful, long finish. Crisp, clean, with smooth bright pink effervescence dancing on the palate. Overall lacking of fruit and savoury bread in the nose, the mouthfeel is well balanced with a slight hint of strawberry on the finish. Don’t expect anything but pleasurable and appropriate price-pointed delivery of a pleasantly enjoyable and non-serious, but not supercilious quaffing sparkler.

Beautiful visual presence, but not as good on the palate as the Blanc de Noir. Both made from Pinot Noir fruit, but this has a slightly annoying bitter aftertaste. Still a good value in a bubbly.

The Third Annual Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine: Retail $18. Light pink with just a subtle orange tint, lovely nose of strawberry, cherry, and minerality. The palate is immediately a bit sweet, but that is balanced by the searing acidity. There is not as much fruit as I expected here, but it all seems to work, accentuated by the well-above-average finish. 89. thedrunkencyclist.com

Scents of soapy flowers and some cherry brandy at first. Once it opens up it has really sharp scents of lime, baking soda and strawberry jam. We got through half the bottle. Fairly tangy, but little to no notes of red fruits and toast. It finishes with a bland tangy note. I know this is not a high quality producer but nonetheless I wasn’t expecting it to be this awful. Probably something for mimosas at best. Might be inclined to seek out another bottle to be sure it wasn’t flawed.

Light to medium body notations, a light rose peach and crispy pink color. There is a good amount of minerals on the taste, finished off with a blush of strawberries, rasberries and small floral notes. The finishing on the palate is heavy on acidity and medium alcohol heaviness, which makes it slightly unpleasant but would be a good pairing on some strong cheese refreshments to balance and offset the taste. This is a brut rose, so it will live up to the dry expectations.
Opened all 6 bottles for a small gathering during an evening. Could be better, suggest pairing with small bites instead of drinking by itself.

Dry, crisp and rich! For the price it's an amazing value!
I think it's more balanced than Gruet's traditional fair and delivers more flavor.
I like 30-40 dollar NV champagne(moet imperial, roederer premier, andré clouet, veuve clicqout) as much as the next guy but I enjoyed this just as much as those wines.
Reasonably good sparkler for the price point. Linear and compact, and quite dry. A bit of herbal (is that New Mexico Hatch chilies I taste, or am I imagining it??), with the barest hint of red fruits.

I love this wine for a ton of reasons, but near the top has to be its color: a vibrant pink with medium bubbles. But also good fruit, verve, and esoteric wine geekiness (waaay affordable sparkling wine with a French pedigree from New Mexico?). Not a world beater, but for under $15? Giddy-up! thedrunkencyclist.com

Over the course of a couple of days had this, the NV Brut Rose and NV Blanc de Blancs (zero dosage).
Preferred the Blanc de Blancs by a hair. It had a nervousness to it that is hard to explain. I'd give it a 92 and will be giving this a preferred position in my rotating line-up of sparkling wines. Will want to try it up against my preferred Prosecco's and NV Brut Champagnes. Had it with potstickers.
The NV Brut was better than prior showings. I'd give it a 91. I find it more complex than other recent postings. Lovely match to Erin Wade's Kale Quinoa Salad from Vinaigrette in Santa Fe. Here's the recipe https://www.newmexico.org/nmmagazine/articles/post/erin-wades-salad-days-95196/ . I double the kale and hand rub it with olive oil and a dash of salt.
The NV Brut Rose was loved by my partner but I found it a little sweet for my tastes. I'd give it 89.
All of them had copious mousse.

Inoffensive sparkler at a good mid-teens price. Strawberries, flowers, and grapefruit. Quite pleasant, went great with a homemade pizza. My only complaint is that Gruet's 375ml bottles are only a few dollars cheaper than the 750s, might be too much to ask for them to be half the price but when its $16 for the 750 and $13 for the split...feels wrong.

Excellent bang for your buck bubbly. Dry, with some grapefruit and pineapple. With a little more yeast it would have been a real contender. Still, at the price, better than some of the lower priced champagnes.

I was off at basketball practice for my younger son, not getting back until 7:00. My wife had taken over the reigns and made dinner, so I though that my only chore was to chose the wine. Well, she had taken care of that as well—she absconded with this bottle from the cellar without any sort of consultation (I have to remember to keep the cellar locked!). This is perhaps the best bang-for the buck sparkling wine on the U.S. market right now: fruit, acidity, bubbles, it’s all there. And for the price? You can let it go that your wife chose to chill the wine in the refrigerator door, which caused more than enough agitation to lose at least a half a glass upon opening. thedrunkencyclist.com

You know it is really difficult to find a better value in sparkling wine these days than Gruet. When you add rosé to the equation, it serves as a multiplier. I picked this up on sale for under $13, and that is just ridiculous: red berry and even some Twizzlers on the nose with a solid sparkle. On the palate, simply tasty with some tart cherry and a bit of minerality, this really is a fine bottle of bubbles, regardless of the price. thedrunkencyclist.com

Very pretty, pink-magenta hue with average beads and mousse. A big fruity nose at the pop but it faded away fairly quickly, leaving a trail of strawberry pie and 7-Up behind. The palate is stronger with good acidity and weight, with a succinct brut grip on the gums. Fully serviceable for a backyard party, which is where my other 6 bottles go tomorrow. 5+9+14+7 = 85

You have to admire what the proprietors of Gruet have accomplished—a husband and wife team from France, both had dreamed of producing a high-quality Champagne using méthode champenoise. Planting vines at high-altitude in New Mexico was, admittedly a gamble, and they've succeeded. Perhaps even more remarkable, they produce a lovely sparkler for under $20.00. Perfect for entertaining, the Brut Rosé offers up notes of brioche, tart cherries and watermelon buoyed by lively acidity with even a hint of salinity.

Medium pink in color, this sparkling wine revealed strawberry, cherry and hay on the nose, large bubbles and red fruits on the mouth feel and a touch of sweetness and minerality on the somewhat short finish.

Cherries, oranges, watermelon, and vanilla on the nose. Not much complexity or depth in the mouth. Has a spiky bead, strawberry daiquiri foam, lime citrus and powdered cinnamon, crushed rocks on the finish, and an aftertaste that tastes more like beer than it does wine. Clunky but an easy drinker.

Fresh, effervescent, with hints of strawberry and hay. Slightly sweet. Would be great with a celebration desert. With food, the sweetness disappears and the Pinot notes come through, and it becomes more grassy. Gorgeous in color. We liked a lot, especially at this price point, and would proudly bring this to any dinner party or event.

(12%) 100% Pinot Noir – Hails from New Mexico which seems a bit unlikely and explains why this has been on my list of wines to try for quite some time. This one is NV (per winery website it is limited to 5,000 cases per year) and starts by showing beautiful color and big bubbles in the glass. On the palate it is lifted with lively strawberry and raspberry and a tinge of orange (Clementine) peel. Yeasty, toasted bread on back side with a touch of minerality. The berry fruits make it all the way through to a nice, dry, crisp finish. I’m a fan!
X20 Pre-Holiday Feast (X20 - Yonkers, NY): Billy, the Somm, brought this to the table as "sorry it took so long to seat you" gift. I was most appreciative, as I love rose sparkling wines, it was a nice way to kick off the evening. Tight bubbles, a bit yeasty, raspberry and ginger notes. Very refreshing and quite lovely with the fennel dusted shrimp and fennel soup that was served as an amuse bouche.

thought this was good, great even when I think that it's from New Mexico, continued my streak of Gruet wines punching up in class.! Didn't fall into the cheap sparkler trap of too sweet, had nice acidity and minerality. Touch too much carbonation but that's a quibble. Beautiful deep red color. For fifteen bones, can't go wrong.

Does the job well for an inexpensive domestic sparkler that tastes clean. The Rose shows more red fruits than the blanc de noir as it should but also has a little less complexity. I still enjoy it but I'm a fan of Rose in general. It's hard to go wrong with Gruet especially at $11-$14 86-87pts

Very light nose -- a little raspberry, no toast. Light flavor of raspberry, cherry, red apple, and a hint of mango, and mineral. Balance was decent, although perhaps the wine leaned a bit to the side of acidity. Finish was average, about 30 seconds. I wouldn't turn down a glass, and if I'm buying, the QPR is worthwhile here (especially if I'm limited to US-produced sparklers).

Served with brunch (Spinach Frittata, Sausage Braid, etc) and it was enjoyed by all. In fact, between a nice Riesling, and a nice Sauvignon Blanc from the loire, this was the first bottle to get emptied.

Oh this is bone chilling.

Cheers,

Overall, not a sparkling wine I'd purchase again. I definately prefer the Gruet Blanc de Noirs much more.

I’m a fan!

Very refreshing and quite lovely with the fennel dusted shrimp and fennel soup that was served as an amuse bouche.

Copper-tinged pink color with somewhat creamy mousse containing large bubbles. In the glass small dispersed bubbles with strawberry, raspberry and yeast aromas. Went flat relatively quickly. On the palate, fruity approaching off-dry with strawberry/raspberry, mineral flavors with a touch of tangerine on the back palate. Short finish

Nose of sweet violets, minerals, strawberry and raspberry. Lively acidity and solid structure continually propel this wine to the forefront of domestic sparklers.
