Tastes very much like the blend of fresh and aged — super rich nutty toasty nose and bright lemon mineral palate. T-shaped — broad rich base and piercing center line. Great.

Disgorged 2016 - Resinous, pine needle on the nose. Pine sap. Oxidative notes. Selossesque , very powerful. A good Selosse ersatz and this is not meant as pejorative. Part of me feels though that the oxidative style is mostly winemaking and obfuscates terroir

En magnum - vendages 2016, disgorged 12/15/20, 6g / L dosage, 35% Pinot Noir, 35% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay. Light golden color with tiny bubbles slowly rising to the top. Gorgeous nose of apple, pear and spice with a hint of citrus that really jumps from the glass. Beautiful minerality and tremendous cut. Both rich and weightless at the same time. A beautiful Champagne with food, but definitely enjoyable as an apértif. A step up in class from a bottle of Rive Gauche (100% Pinot Meunier) I had a number of years back.

Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): The day before we had a tasting at Bereche where the person showing us around was of the opinion that this is the best wine of the house. Made entirely from Reserve wines. It’s more toasty and nuts and secondary really almost from the beginning. More brooding in style. Not that bright and airy thing but a wine that you want to sit and contemplate. Very much enjoyed.

Champagne At Astrid's Place (all served blind) (In the South OC): Served blind, but I knew the wine as it was from my cellar. Disgorged 12/2016, with roughly equal parts Chard/Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier with 6 grams of dosage. Yellow apple, and actually it had a bruised apple quality to it which I don't care for in my Champagne. Orange flesh and brown spice. I liked this, didn't love it.

Simon Beatty’s memorial dinner, CSJ table (Noizé, London): Mag. 08 base early 2012 disgorgement. Pale to mid straw. Nicely rich nose but a freshness too. Some passion fruit exuberance on the palate at the expense of the trademark ginger. Dosage evident (7g/l). Lacking some line, bite and depth for classic Reflets, but in today’s guise, a crowd pleaser that doesn’t scare the horses. ****

Like a caged elephant this one came out swinging. I don't know how they make this magic happen, but I think that solera cuvee really adds some depth to the wine. For those looking for the more generous style, this 2016 dis'g makes for lovely savoury pairings vs. opulence. Restrained as far as I'm concerned for Reflet d'Antan, and I think this will improve for 4-5 more years easily.

From the 2015 disgorgement. Red nuts and lots of power on the nose. Almost smells like a nutty maderia. But also poured right beside an 1830 Malmsey. So soft and supple on the palate.

Wow, really great showing, Selosse style with bruised apple, connamon, lightly oxidative yet fresh. Precise palate, aromatic and long. Wonderful. Best showing so far. Prefer it to the base 12 and 15.

Just lovely this evening, enjoyed this final of 4 bottles outside, in the shade, after work. Stunning purity, brilliant on the palate with lemon zest, green apples, sautéed mushrooms, hazelnuts, white pepper and chalky minerality. The finish focuses in on savory notes, with waves of flavor, supported by bright acidity and a long and captivating finish. Drink this 05/2015 disgorgement through 2025+.

A little while since last bottle and it may be getting better. Huge intensity, depth, mineral / chalk elements Nose has that touch of oxidisation with freshness. Masses of red apple possibly and the colour has a definite pink / red hue given the depth . Cutting acidty and freshness but some creamy elements . Hint of smoke
Worth giving an hour or two to open and soften up which maybe shows more time in bottle won’t hurt.

An explosion of cherry fruit, deep and with quite a lot of Pinot character, but lively, fresh and quite aromatic. There’s a lot of richness, with heady olfactory notes without a sense of volatility. Overall a really top tier champagne, again a major treat to taste!

Wow, first time trying this btling. Expected the depth and complexity from a perpetual reserve and this btl delivers. Dense fruit, hint of bread, slight oxidative notes but balanced with lively acidity and a slight sweetness on the finish. So tasty and yet complex and interesting.

Great depth and concentration. Nicely matured with some secondary notes intermixing with a nice mélange of flavours. Everything is in harmony. A light touch of salinity add to the sophistication. While not the most complex, it is certainly very tasty and enjoyable.

Very nice - has a great dusty, rich, aged character from the solera system but retains good acidic structure and youthfulness. This isn’t terribly complex and the current retail seems a bit high for what’s in the bottle. I won’t be buying this in the future but I’m glad I got to try these at fair prices.

Well developed nose, color is more on the deep side of the yellow. Rich aromatic profile, some oxydation or evolution notes. Wonderful palate, rich and vinous. Great tension and good lift towards the end. Even though there are tons of material here, wine is very easy to drink. A point!

Very nice nose on baked apple, vanilla and graphite. The bubble dissipates very quickly upon ventilation.
On the palate, it is a serious champagne, initially with notes of pastry and a diffused woody note. The 35% pinot noir dominates initially, giving a vinous dimension to the champagne which makes it a wine for gastronomy. Although giving the sensation of being very young, the wine is very structured, it is deep, with the Chardonnay which takes the upper hand at the end of the mouth and which brings very beautiful bitters and an extremely chalky finish with a fine but fine length. lingering on wet stone.
An excellent champagne, very complete, deep and energetic as this beautiful house often gratifies us.

Elegant like an Armani suit. 2009 base 2014 disgorgement date. It smells of old wood in a good way, beef bouillon, and roasted nuts. There is a distinct note of walnuts and a lovely mint finish. The mousse is fine. Very enjoyable

During a Domaine visit which confirmed that Bereche is a very strong, upcoming producer to look out for. This showed particularly well during this tasting. Very vinous, white flowers, acacia, slightly oxidative like the Selosse style but not too much. Better than the 2012 I recently had.

Quite round and rich , generous champagne and definitely very inviting. Quite a bit of presence here and covers the palate with a nice lush and persistent feeling and with a lot of depth. Peache, apple, brioche and soft spice we felt. This wines benefits from the addition of 30% reserve wines from a solera of demi-muids which started in 1986. Our L:16RDA with a base of 2016 and was disgorged in December 2020 with 6g/l dosage. 93+

3rd of 4 bottles. Beautifully complex on the nose and palate, with a slightly shortish finish. 2010 base, disgorged in 2015. The acidity is bright, with a powerful mid-palate presence, then moves to chalk, slate, white pepper, and lime zest on the finish. Drink through 2024.

Really enjoyed this. Disgorgement in 2019. It's fresh and a bit herbal and spicy and drinks really well. Not as much evolution in the glass as I'd hope for, but a nice champagne. Would be interesting to see how these age.

Base vintage 2012 with Solera addition, Disgorged Dec/2016. This is a Pinot led 35/35/30 Cuvee. After having just finished a very nice Suenen BdB from Cramant, the nose here already confirms that we are in Pinot territory and with a more oxidative style. Beautiful nose of raspberry, cherry with an amontillado touch to it. Medium+ bodied, lovely finish. A food Champagne. 93-94

Yvelin's birthday; 9/5/2021-9/6/2021: 2015 base. Classic Bereche notes of green apples, but I didn't enjoy this as much as the other bottlings that I have tried. Possibly shut down as this was rather unyielding and the dominating flavour I had was straw.

Served as an aperitif with *those* parmesan biscuits at Chez Bruce. 2009 base, 2014 d/g. This was a sublime bottle of champagne and easily my favourite of 2021 thus far. Smells like you've crawled inside an almond croissant and tastes like you're eating your way out of it. This is racy, rich, complex, peachy and spicy. Such exoticism might seem excessive were it not tempered with tantalising, lacy acidity, which lends a sense of pert respectability to what is otherwise an exercise in perfect decadence.
not blind, Magnum, disg. 2012 I had never such an old disgorged Reflet d'Antan.. Reached peak, Some ripe aromas but acidity is still dominant. Some baked apple but in a positive way. Nice perpetuelle. 94-95

2008 base. Stubborn cork. Trademark Bereche peach flesh hue, maybe slightly more intense than usual. Rich and rounded on the nose, similar on the palate. Very smooth and drinkable, perhaps it’s only fault is that it’s a bit too easy and could do with more tension and line on the finish. Fresh, mature and very good though. ****

The palate has a creamy and caramelized touch with a well-controlled oxidative aspect. The vintage effect is in full play since the dense material is perfectly integrated into a whole where the acidity brings a nice tension with an excellent balance. The dosage (6g) brings roundness to a well-built and intense wine. Nuts dominate in the mouth, and the wine seems to me to be at its peak. Overall on the biscuit with a good length.
Excellent champagne

About as rich as you'd like to go with Champagne - overtly oak-influenced, dark and savoury - but doesn't feel heavy or over-dosed. Disgorged May 2019 and seemed completely ready, with a relatively shy nose, plenty of yeasty umami and an overall sense of drinkability. We all liked this very much tonight.

Full-bodied and complex with extra depth and oxidative notes from the addition of 30% reserve wines from a solera of demi-muids dating back to 1986. Rich, mineral, generous, fleshy and racy, with delicious notes of pastry, bruised apple, lemon curd and spice.
Degorgement Dec 2017 - BA13 Spontaneous fermentation en futs de chene te en petite cuvée. Unfiltered Brut 6g/l
Bereche is one of a small number of producers who prefer to age their top wines on the cork (instead of crown capsule), a time-consuming, painstaking process that is just one example of the total commitment to quality that is the rule here. Bereche believes aging on the cork results in wines that are more complex and integrated.

Base '08, 10/12 disgorge. 6g/L. Disappointing. Had this same base/disgorge wine 5+ years ago and I think it's gotten worse. Too oxidative and doesn't give much pleasure. It feels like a well-made wine but stylistically not my thing. Least favorite bottling in the otherwise great Bereche line-up.

Wow...super interesting... Loads of minerals, white licorice, petrol, dried lemon, salted praline, white candied flowers, fleshy white peach, spice and lemon pie crust. This has razor sharp mineral character and acid which balances out the weight and unctuouseness of this stellar complex and refined champagne.
Disgorgement of 05-15 and probably the best I have ever had from this wine Vinous and coppery and languid. Really quite fine. So I guess hold your Reflet for post disgorgement aging.

Off the wine list at Marea. I am spending a bit more time with Bereche these days which seems to be becoming a darling of the somm world. It was nice to get to try one of the ones beyond the base bubbles. This was drinking very nicely. So nicely I found myself agreeing to a top up and then nursing the glass through much of the meal. From memory, but I think there was almost a root-like spice note to it. Complex and interesting. Very enjoyable.

2010 base, 2015 disgorgement. Pale to mid straw. Oh yes, this is quite the business. Some richness and spice against a slightly warm brioche butteriness, but a lovely freshness too and nothing oxidative. Quite the freshest and best bottle of Reflets I can remember. Lovely line, maybe just lacking a bit of persistence on the finish for absolutely top flight. Oh so drinkable and with plenty of energy and a gingery finish. ****

1st of 4 bottles. Holy moly this is great. Nose of baked apples, lemon curd, wafts of bread crust, hazelnuts, and fresh rain. On the palate...depth, precision, balance, everything a wonderful wine strives for. This is f#ing delicious. Shows the broadness from the reserve wine from the solera. This took a couple of hours to really show anything - I was expecting more oxidative characteristics given the solera system and they slowly emerged as the wine warmed. This is a quiet and shy champagne, give it time to unfold. Still a little underwhelming relative to my expectations and other Bereche bottlings, but I look forward to trying this again as the solera ages.

A: Deep gold with orange highlights N: Raisin, prune, caramel, candied fruit, honeysuckle, ginger, almond, brioche, fully developed. medium (+) intensity P: Aromas confirmed. A fair smack of phenolic bitterness caught by Riccardo and we all agree. Dry, m/m(+) acid), medium (+) body, medium (+) intensity and medium (+) finish. C: From Montagne de Reims and Vallee de la Marne. 6g/l sugar and disgorged in December 2016. Very good quality wine. Wish the acidity was livlier. Very oxidative style again. $130, little steep but again, its novel and has a complexity to it. Glad we tried this Solera produced wine.
Delicate aromas of oxidized apples, lemon, berries, toast and some autolysis. Light and tender on the palate, with a lovely acidity. More aromas after a while in the glass, but still light and fragrant.

Plum Market Luxury Fall Tasting (Chicago, IL): Unknown disgorgement or lot number. I've had this wine a few times now, and I'm still not really convinced by it. Jon's Birthday 2017 (Kallang Way Extra Space): Pop and poured. Drank over 2 hours. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, amber gold colour. Legs. Fine bubbles. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of deep almond nuts, heady marble cake, cream cheese, bready yeast, soda-lime, citrus lemon curd. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12%), full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet oxidative almond nuts, marble cake, soda-lime, ripe citrus lemon curd, baked brown apples, tart sour plum, bits of Fino sherry. Long finish. Very good quality. A champagne very very much in the oxidative style. A head-turner. Certainly not for everyone's taste buds. Objectively very good vino, hence my score. Personally, I prefer my champs brighter with more tension and verve. This feels more sledgehammerish. 33% Chardonnay, 34% Pinot Noir, 33% Meunier. Fermented in cuve, kept in cuve for one year, then introduced into a solera that was started in 1985. Once a year they bottle off two-thirds. It spends an average of three years on lees. Dosage 6g/l.

Sunday Fun-day with Bérêche (Kline Household): The fifth of five distinct designations from Bérêche et Fils. This was the highlight of the group and wholly unique from anything I have every tasted from Champagne (apart from Ratafia). As it should be, as this wine was created from a solera that started in 1985. Nearly still and showing a pale bronze-like color, this wine was a beauty to just smell and on the palate, it showed off some wild notes of red berries and other characteristics that I would typically associate with red wines. The finish was long and lovely. Definitely something I want more of and should be something that every Champagne lover experiences.

Taste: Full bodied with high acidity. The acidity is refreshing and somewhat sneaky as it cuts through the texture and richness of the feel. There is also a lot of depth and class along with baked apples, baking spices, golden grahams, brioche, some roasted nuts, and yellow florals.
Overall: This was from a 2009 base (5/14 disgorgement) along with the rest of the solera. This was a killer bottle that showed off everything that the Reflet d'Antan can be. I think it's looking like aging this a year or two after purchasing may yield the best results.

#alternativepairings (Chicago, IL): 2009 base, 6 g/L dosage, May 2014 disgorgement. It's odd. I had had this exact same disgorgement before, and thought it disappointing, but this bottle was showing very well tonight. A Great French Tuesday at Tilia (Tilia, Mpls): Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over 20 minutes. This was another treat to try, based on a relatively old solera. I believe the base vintage was 2009 for this bottle. It certainly drinks and feels unique, with some power and character of dried fruits and fruit skins, pear, grapefruit, citrus, quince, and lychee. The minerality is distinct and there is marvelous structure here. Deep and powerful and unique. 92+ to 93pts.

A night of Bereche (The Bristol, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is on the richer side, but extremely well balanced with cinnamon, brioche, biscuits, red apples, and yellow fruits. There is excellent depth with a layering to the tones.
Taste: Full bodied with medium+ acidity. The acidity has some punch to it, but is well balanced. The feel shows excellent depth and layering with cinnamon, brioche, red apples, and yellow fruits.
Overall: This was an excellent bottle of Reflet d'Antan. I've noticed some variation, but, when they are good, they can be really good. This is from a Solera and shows off the range in flavors that comes from that form of aging.

A night of Bereche (The Bristol, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is darting and intriguing with cinnamon sticks, brioche, fresh baked biscuits, red apples, yellow fruits, and some yellow florals. This nose is lacking some depth though that could really drive it.
Taste: Full bodied with medium/high acidity. The feel is plush, but this is lacking slightly on the mid-palate with cinnamon sticks, brioche, red apples, yellow fruits, and yellow florals.
Overall: This wine has been all over the place for me. I have had some stunning bottles of Reflet d'Antan and some "just" very good ones like this. Still, this is the base-line and it's an excellent champagne to drink and enjoy.

Bérèche at The Bristol (Chicago, IL): 2009 base, 6 g/L dosage, May 2014 disgorgement. This was the real underperformer tonight, as it has been in the past. Don't get me wrong -- this isn't a bad bottle of champagne -- but as the tête de cuvée, this really punches far beneath its weight (though that's more likely because the rest of the lineup is so damn good). This is again showing very dumb and muted, and although with air, more stuff started to pop out, this never really got to the level you'd expect. There are some muted flavours of green apple, and you can tell there's good material, but it's just not showing. The finish is immensely chalky.

This one was recently disgorged (2015) and I think it suffered from not being able to sit longer before being opened. It has a rich nose that seems appropriately lush for its price point, and it is definitely better balanced than the entry level brut from this producer. Unfortunately, the wine seemed too tight on the palate. The finish was long, but too one-dimensional at this point. I don't think its worth the asking price at this point if you plan to drink it soon...in fact, when I take price into consideration, I'd rather drink their entry level wine at this point. Give this 1-2 years to rest in the bottle and it should morph into a dynamite wine. I'm going to revisit my next bottle probably around this time next year.

Not sure what the base was of this one (?2010). A beautiful, vinous champagne - it would pair well with food. Very light mousse, complex nose with apple, flowers, herbs. Gained weight with time in the glass. Really enjoyed this wine.

Based on 2008 as the most recent vintage, disgorged in 2012. Beautiful wine, but needs a lot of air to fully reveal itself - if I had more of this release I would wait a while - 5 years or more? When it gets there, it's harmonious and complex with aromas of baked apples, flowers, vanilla, ginger, and more. The wine shows the complexity and richness of the old wines within, and also the freshness and verve of the newer 2008 juice. This is a wine that shows well with food, perhaps better with food. Whatever you might eat while drinking white Burgundy, and I would say whatever you might eat while drinking a lighter red wine. Top class stuff.

O8 base. Trademark Bereche salmon-pink tint. Full and nicely rich on the nose. Similar on palate, rich and full with creamy brioche and spice. Only a slight sense of being a little oxidative, this is very fresh with plenty of energy and good drive through to the long finish. Lovely. ****

Deep yellow. This was bold on the nose and rich on the palate yet maintains a perfect balance. Almonds, brioche, pears, pineapples all blend in seamlessly. Fairly full-bodied, slightly oxidative with excellent focus and precision. A treat!

Dead, Dante's, Wine (Chicago, IL): Disgorged October 2012. For a solera wine, I found this a bit lacking in the oxidative components. Nor does this have the same fresh zippiness in a bottle of the Bereche brut. I think it's stuck in a bit of an awkward place right now, with the solera still being a bit too young. This has a bit of fresh acidity still, and some nascent baked apple notes (which I associate often with oxidation). It's clear that the material here is fantastic, but again, it needs to pick a direction and run with it. This strikes me as a bit unfocussed at the moment, but I am looking forward to future releases of this solera with anticipation.

Notes of oak and pear with a slightly oxidative character. Smells big and broad and it is, but it's also very fresh on the finish. Nice depth but not a ton of complexity and the oak is a bit too noticeable. Was expecting more from this given the '08 Base though it's still a very nice wine. Disgorge Oct '12, 6 g/l, base '08, equal parts Chard, PM and PN.

L'Assiettes Champenois, Reims. 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, 5% Pinot Menieure. Sx months in barrels. 3,000 bottles per year. Outstanding “wine”. Pinot offers a lot of body and structure. Smooth. Barrel jumping out just enough. Perfect!!!

Bérèche et Fils is an old house, and tiny, with little more than 2.5 hectares that are meticulously biodynamically farmed. Arguably, it’s one of my favorite bubblies, I’ve sung its virtues many times. The Reflet D’Antan Brut is no less deserving of praise—warm cinnamon bread, apples, baking spice and a whiff of smoke—comforting aromas that are so like a cold fall morning. On the palate, velvety gold, the perfect expression of power and elegance, full and sappy, with pear skin and saline notes of wet shell.

This is the March 2011 disgorgement. Light yellow in the glass. This is dense, vibrant, and energetic yet subtle in many ways. The blend of PN/PM/Chard is seamless -- the yellow fruit flavor profile here is unique, although there is an intoxicating soft oxidative sherry note in the background. With time, this only got bigger. Stylistically reminds me of Selosse. This is prolific juice.

Excellent!! The depth and complexity of flavors is the first thing I noticed. Tannins provide a solid backbone for this delicious Champagne. Flavors of citrus, vanilla and a hint of honey...but this is not overly sweet, but rather well balanced. Color has a beautiful golden hue to it. Crystal clear.

Very stubborn cork, broke off and then required corkscrew to open. Three years post-purchase cellaring. Rich, deep, ginger spice, quite a meaty, deep, Pinot-dominated nose and palate. Excellent food wine but very tasty on its own. Bare ****

Wasn't thrilled by this. A touch austere at first, but opening out with air to show pleasant citrus and pear fruit tinged with doughy/biscuit elements and chalky mineral notes. It's nicely balanced if a touch steely, but never shows the depth or complexity I'd look for in a Champagne of this price.

Nice bottle from Crush. I really like the regular, lower-priced Bereche NV with its acidity, limeston, and focus. This is an enhanced version that includes more of the richer almond/carmel characteristics.

Nov 2008 disgorgement. And it's big boy: lots of structure, weight, very dark fruit flavours without showing much oak or oxidative notes. Certainly has benefited from a few years in the cellar.

Small fine wine lunch (The Ledbury, London): Onion skin colour, fine fizz, dried fruit, sweet at the core, more refined than the last batch, with none of the wildness or the funk. Precise for such a big wine. Super.

Super silky with great textural refinement and superb finesse. A breathtaking glass with sweet floral notes of pears and peaches. Impeccable, beautifully articulated wine from the house’s perpetual solera-style cuvee. Dosage is 5.5 grams per liter.
Terres et Vins de Champagne 'a Portland; 5/17/2013-5/18/2013 (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): 2008 base. This wine was totally wild and unique! 2/3rds of this is 2008 base and the remaining 1/3rd is a solera style, a mix of far older vintages. The aromas again are wild, and complex. Impressive graceful dance of elegance, with a unique melange of aroma more on the earthy side of things. Really rich and impressive depth on the palate. This even tastes like a solera style sherry. Quite different from what I expect in a Champagne. Tastes of fermentation(?). Some minerality on the finish and again playing a nice dance on the finish. Not quite as much depth offered here as the nose and palate. Quite puckering though, with good minerality lingering. I revisited this wine at the end of the tasting and found it much less interesting. It had been sitting in an ice bucket, though.

Yellow colour. The nose is filled with mature yellow apples (showing some sweetness). The palate is soft and filled with a tart and acidic finish.
Altough a bit odd, it went very well with food. Felt a bit like French cider at some point with it's soft and hidden acidity and somewhat oxidative tones. (This bottle was disgorged 9/12/2009.)

Really liked this wine! For the price a great value as it has the toasty, rich qualities i appreciate in vintage champagne. It is a light gold color with some ginger and dried sugared orange garnish on the nose and palate, a very pleasant soft cloud of a mousse. Finish is a bit short yet a very pleasing wine with good minerallity, acidity, and fun to drink.

Disgorged December 2010. Wonderful, unusual champagne. I agree with several earlier reviewers regarding this distinctive, characteristic and unusual wine. It is not for everybody, and not for drinking every day, but I love it. It has tremendous body and character, great length, a myriad of flavors mixing freshness and fruit with hints of nuts, with a full-bodied and mineral backbone. The Italians would classify this as a wine of "meditation".

Dégustée à la Table de Kobus (Epernay), après avoir été achetée au 520 (Epernay).

This was a very interesting champagne. It is extremely rich and powerful. Like crossing a young vintage Krug with lower acidity and several other rich grower champagnes. You get oranges, peaches, vanilla, spices, oak, medium to low acidity, toast and an overall sweetness that penetrates all the other flavors. You can tell that this is very high quality, but its powerful characteristics also put this just a little bit over the top for me. For people who love extremely rich and decadent champagnes, this might be one of the best. For others that prefer lighter and more balanced sparklers you will most likely prefer something else. But overall this was a very interesting experience.

Distinctive and unique. Throws off freshly carved pumkin and ginger aromas, with these repeating on the palate in addition to spices like nutmeg and orange cream. Unlike any Champagne I've ever tasted. Finish is spectacular. The only nit is that I'm not sure I could drink this all the time but it's a heck of a treat.

This is certainly a novelty. And very easy to enjoy. It has a richness and oxidative character reminiscent of that other famous solera Champagne (Selosse) but without the piercing depth, though it does perhaps have more aldehydic complexity. It also has a beautiful graphitic backbone (I'm busting on ALL my big words on this one!). A whirling dervish of a wine.

Russell's Pebbles Fizz Offline (Alex's DML Office): Gorgeous nose, all sorts of aromas here, mainly out of a patissierie. Orange blossom, marzipan and then a good whiff of banoffee pie to the fore. A little loose and flabby on the palate though, lacking some focus. Certainly not as good as the bottle Rupert brought to the Ledbury in January. 11/2009 disgoregement. ***

Very rich in texture and body, this cuvee had a quality to it that I can describe as 'strawberry sherry' though I'm pretty sure I dont' know what that means. There were forest-floor and bark notes to it too, that I found really interesting. Very good and very different.

For those looking for the more generous style, this 2016 dis'g makes for lovely savoury pairings vs. opulence. Restrained as far as I'm concerned for Reflet d'Antan, and I think this will improve for 4-5 more years easily.

Nose has that touch of oxidisation with freshness. Masses of red apple possibly and the colour has a definite pink / red hue given the depth .
Cutting acidty and freshness but some creamy elements . Hint of smoke
Worth giving an hour or two to open and soften up which maybe shows more time in bottle won’t hurt.

Such exoticism might seem excessive were it not tempered with tantalising, lacy acidity, which lends a sense of pert respectability to what is otherwise an exercise in perfect decadence.

Disgorged December 2010. Even better and younger than the last bottle, this still has a few very good years ahead of it. As per previous notes: Wonderful, delicious Champagne full of old Champagne flavors, aromas and character. Very savory and a wine to drink all by itself.

disgorgement 2012
Nose on nuts and dried fruits.

Degorgement Dec 2017 - BA13
Spontaneous fermentation en futs de chene te en petite cuvée.
Unfiltered
Brut 6g/l
Bereche is one of a small number of producers who prefer to age their top wines on the cork (instead of crown capsule), a time-consuming, painstaking process that is just one example of the total commitment to quality that is the rule here. Bereche believes aging on the cork results in wines that are more complex and integrated.
