Boxing Day wines at Domaine: Took some time to stretch it's legs and open up. When it did very classic meaty Gevrey smoke and spice laced throughout still fresh and concentrated fruit. In it's peak window, with some air, and should hold for a decade+.

Nose: white pepper, bubble gum, rose petals, rice cake, earthy Notes: When the wine was first opened it was quite stiff and unwelcoming but after 2 hours it turned out to be extremely floral and elegant. A highly aromatic and deep wine after some breathing, Rousseau demonstrates that Gevrey can be made in an elegant and fulfilling manner without being too feminine and that is a delicate and expensive balance. This is an amazing effort from AR, had this side by side with another AR Charmes Chambertin 2007 and I would say it is a close match with the Charmes but right now the charmes is marginally better, I think this is probably the result of a better vintage but slightly less superior cru. I suspect 3-5 more years would make this even better. Drink: 2028+ Rating: 92 pts

Acker April 2019 (Marea in NYC): Another favorite of the tasting. Just a bit more years than the wine before it and those seemed to add a bit more nuance to the wine. Fruit came across a bit darker. Tannins more there and with a grippiness to them. Still, this is a light and very balanced wine. The kindof wine I think most burg drinkers chase and the kindof wine that makes me understand why ppl chase burg.

Acker 2019/05 (Zuma): Despite the vintage fruit, this wine is slightly broken on the palate. 92

Acker April Auction 2019 (sad day) (Marea): Minty, sois bois, fairly floral, animalistic. Good ageing without too much of the vintage ripeness. 92
