  • Decanted and consumed within 2 hours with slight improvement over the time. This bottle of Underhill is not over the hill but it is very special and perhaps not for everyone's taste. Quite intense notes of smoked sausages (pork) with a hint of funk and dark fruit, medium bodied, still fresh and with a medium to long finish. Better to drink sooner than later.

  • Took as a surprise wine to a reserve tasting tonight. Everyone hated it. Obviously has not aged well. Very orange in color with a pickle juice smell. The fruit is beginning to fade. Actually it is rather delicate on the taste, but the nose is just too unpleasant to enjoy. Fun, but way past its time.

  • Brilliant showing, with many more very good years still ahead. Color reveals no age, the aromas and flavors are fresh and fruity, with red currant, raspberry and plum leading the way. The body is full, the tannins sweet and round; finishes long+. The nose on this at the one hour mark is rich and sweet, even if the wine is dry and correct. Even though some earlier notes didn't give much hope for my only bottle, I had faith in the winegrower, the very talented Dr Bailey Carrodus - I was not let down, this was a powerful, vibrant showing. That said, in a cool cellar this could go another 20 years, though it's in such a brilliant place right now, it'd be a shame to miss it. highly recommended

Served single-blind to my mates, everyone was either France or Italy (the latter just because I've pigeon-holed myself so often).

  • - Brick color and aromas of kerosene with a short finish - Well past it's best. Still drinkable but drink up now.

  • Wonderful complex integrated shiraz. Potent aroma of grape and vanilla. A medium to full bodied wine with a deep red-garnet color. On the palate, rich well integrated fruit with a wonderful complexity and finish. Drinking perfectly 93 pts. (8/00).
Full red/crimson. Huge aroma of red fruit, allspice, and pepper. Huge rich mouthful of mature redcurrant, spice, and briar. Showing mature tea notes and lovely complexity. This would have showed at/near the top of the older Aussie shiraz tasting. Really enjoyable, but probably not going to get any better. Drink up! 93-94 pts. 5/05
