Textbook St. Julien. Rather musty, barnyardy nose with cassis, and earth - just exactly the way I like bordeaux. Terrific balance with a smooth, silky, elegant mouthfeel and excellent balance. Nice complexity with the fruit just beginning to fade but being replaced by notes of leather and tobacco. A really enjoyable , smooth, balanced wine that reflects its heritage. I love older bordeaux wines and this was right in my sweet spot. I 'm sure the 1993 Leoville Las Cases has more power and depth, but I really loved this wine for its character and complexity.

Decanted for one hour. Rather green and peppery nose with a bit of cocoa and sweet cedar. On the palate clean with a nice a bit unripe cabernet fruit, medium body and a refreshing aftertaste of red berries and a bit of tobacco, good length with floury tannins. Good again, but this is heavily overpriced atm.

Delicious, but not up to the 92 Corison which was spectacular. Beat out the 93 Jordan which was fading a bit.
