  • Chez Zim: mainly cherries, decent salinity, quite round, in a good drinking spot.

  • (CdV)

  • Decanted for about 2 hours. No sediment. Poured into Grassl 1855. With the air, this was expressive and drinking well. Bit of smoke and earth on the nose with red berries; kick of black pepper joins on the palate. Did well with food and still had plenty of life.

  • Auberge de Walfrid in Alsace - happy to find this on the wine menu. Pairing it with veal, cheese and dessert. One hour decant. Deep purple color. Cherry, blueberries, wet forest floor, musky, mushrooms, truffles, black spices, garrigues, a touch of olives. Very nice and complex nose full of tertiary notes. Med acidity, full body, high alochol, med flavor intensity, med tannins and med finish. Nice red fruits, well evolved, Mediterranean terroir coming through after 20 min in the glass with olives and garrigue, maybe the finish is a bit disappointing in that it is not that long - then again 13 was not a great in year in most of France. No need to open this up soon and if you do, decant for a couple of hours.
