Beautiful medium to pale garnet core, turning to amber at the rim. Sublime bouquet, with complex and tertiary notes of sous bois, sautéed mushrooms, and dried cherry. Medium bodied on the palate, with a richness that was surprising, given how light the Trapet is on its feet, with good acidity, excellent depth, and a long, full, and savory finish. This was popped, poured and consumed over the course of dinner, and seemed to be at peak.

Tasted blind: Deeply colored; nose and palate of great intensity and ripeness; quite full-bodied yet lifted with good acidity. I guessed this to be much younger.

nose: smoked meats strike you right off the bat on the initial pour. It then starts to open up into a balanced nose of raspberry, earthen tones, smoke, spice, tart cherry, and hints of soy sauce. The smell starts to permeate the room as it opens up more
taste: great balance with raspberry in the forefront that gets backed up by smoked game, tart cherry, earthen tones, and exotic spices, with bits of mushroom and soy sauce on the back end
overall: a very beautiful young grand cru. Secondary characteristics are starting to come in and there is still ample tannin on the back end. Nice silky feel with soft nuanced tones and a nice soy sauce and tart cherry finish

Light with sweet light cherry; balanced; elegant; moderate finish.
