  • Wonderful again and perfectly-aged. Excellent structure and balance, with notes of rose, sweet dark cherry, raspberry, oak, with good length on the finish.

  • Very good wine. Deep red, first signs of rust beginning to appear. I don't place any importance on the color of wine, but I remark on it here because the red is unusual - it's deep red with no darker tones, it's just vividly and deeply red. The nose and palate are very much about cherries - dark, ripe, sour, bright, all of the above. There are some forest floor smells too, some mineral notes. But at this stage the wine is about lush, vibrant, and almost decadent fruit. There is good structure and acidity, the wine is super well balanced and comes across as clean and fresh. If I seems like I'm hedging a bit, it is because A) this is perhaps only the second Chapelle I've ever drunk and am not able, therefore, to say whether or not this wine truthfully displays a sense of Chapelle terroir. I can say that it is very much of Gevrey, in the broad shouldered meatiness of is composition, the direct power that it displays. And B) I cannot tell if the wine is heavily influenced by oak, or if it isn't. Not that it would be bad -it's delicious and expertly made wine either way. But I just feel as though I do not fully understand it. In any case, it's drinking beautifully right now, and it's also clear that holding it for another 10-15 years will add interest, it's in no danger of fading.

  • Superb and perfectly-aged Grand Cru. Very good structure, with gorgeous notes of rose, sweet dark cherry, and a very long and flawless finish. A sublime burg experience.

  • First time drinking Trapet. Feel we caught this bottle in its sweet spot, wonderfully poised between primary and tertiary qualities: juicy blue fruit and ferrous notes were seamlessly and unpredictably intermingled with sous bois. Nice acidic backbone gave it the stuffing to cope with ribeye steak. A classy and persistent WOTN.

  • Beautiful balance, with expansive mouth feel and sweet tannins. Lucious red fruits, with medium finish.
