The Grand Crus of Chambertin with Jasper Morris MW (Zoom!): Just over 50% whole bunch. Gorgeous translucent colour. Lovely deep nose, well-defined and detailed, but much tarter on the palate - 2014's early picking showing through, and JM notes that Chapelle is the lightest of the Chambertin satellites (perhaps alongside Ruchottes). Lovely blackcurrant flavour, nice length, slightly lean.

Very pretty nose of fresh cherries and minerals. Quite young and rather crunchy at this stage with delicious but subdued wild cherry fruit and high acidity. Very finely-etched with excellent mineral precision and zen-like balance. The finish is succulent and fairly tannic with good grip and subtle hints of red spices and crunchy minerals. A very fresh and pure Burgundy which should turn quite elegant and complex in the fullness of time. I won’t open another bottle for 8-10 years. 92++

Trapet provning #2:
