Dinner with Framily (Claudia, Chicago): I had brought this along as a backup but the somm pulled it and served the burgs side-by-side, and why not? A bit old, showing red fruit, earth and truffle. Roasted game, dark cherry and meaty qualities. Rustic. A bit past whatever prime it had, but decent enough with the squab. 88-89 pts.

The first of two red Burgundies opened by Allred at Claudia. This showed some dark cherry notes with dusty and somewhat tired tannins. May have suffered in comparison with the 2001 Gros Frère et Sœur Clos Vougeot Musigni opened alongside.

Opened and decanted an hour before serving. Slightly brooding to start, with floral and rich spice emerging once served at that one-hour mark. Lots of black cherry throughout with very fine tannins. Good+ weight and length. Starting to lose energy when finished after open three hours.

Quite backward at first, this wine gradually opened up as it sat in the glass. Deep, sappy fruit with lots of structure. Not showing a whole lot right now, but this has good potential. I had heard that Trapet wines were on the oaky side, but - in this wine anyways - the oak seemed well-integrated, and there was certainly enough fruit to support it.

Chapelle-Chambertin Dinner with the Lieu-dit Cru (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Open 2 hours before serving, then tasted single blind in flight. Dark berry, dark chocolate, leather notes. Very good concentration. On par with Dugat in this vintage in this flight.
