  • Very shy on the nose even after serious air and time; some dried fruit, tomatos and something "burned". The palate offers young, fresh and crunchy Sangio fruit to chew on but with little flavors. Not offensive and ok with food, but not expressive, and I doubt this will gain a lot with more time. 15.5/20

  • Serially sampled over two hours from a pristinely cellared 3-liter bottle that had been decanted, this deep garnet Brunello remains quite young and primary. While there is plenty of red currant and Montmorency cherry fruit along with earth, exotic spices and tobacco, the tannins and oak have not fully integrated. Vibrant, seamlessly alcoholic (13.5%) and solid in the middle, it concludes with a lengthy, albeit grippy finish. From this format, patience will be required. Standard 750 cc bottles are undoubtedly more evolved than this young bruiser, so the context of this tasting is very important. My recommended drinking window applies only to the 3-liter format. Drink 2028-2038.

  • 1 hour decant in glass. Color is garnet with a fallow pink edge. Nose of luxardo cherry, sweet tobacco, rose water and dirt. On the palate, sour cherry pith, red currant, earth and wood spice. Grippy, fine, sandy tannins are perceived on gums and cheeks. Medium-to-long finish of red-currant, wood spice and dirt. Think it needed more time to breath...will check back on day two...

Day two was consistent with day one. Wine did not seem to open or evolve much. Tannins were a bit less grippy, but still sandy and prominent as compared to the fruit.

  • Corvined a large glass, let it sit for a couple of hours than drank over about 90 minutes. Cherry cola, leather and a hint of violets on the nose. Really smooth and easy drinking with a good mouthfeel and long finish. Dark cherry, cola, leather and dusty minerals. This is a really nice wine the is ready to go. Great qpr definitely would buy again. 93+
