  • First time I've had a really mature brunello and this was a nice experience. At its best for an hour or so after two hours in the decanter.

Beautiful clear brick colour with some rim variation but no browning.
Started out a tart redcurrant juice but quickly developed. At the height of its five hour life it showed a complex nose with some rusty iron, cocoa beans and strawberry jam. On the palate the sweet fruit scents gave way to chocolate filled with cherry liquor and sourish red fruit. Tart acidity turns to refreshing and the package is kept together by smooth but determined tannins.

A bit tired perhaps, but a charming, enjoyable and interesting wine.
