Very positive surprise! Subtle nose with notes of amaretto or cherry and green herbs, well balanced with toast. The palate confirms this, subtle yet powerful, good acidity. Medium finish. Remains interesting till the last sip. Very well made! This experience reminded me of a good burgundy, despite the very different grape variety (schioppetino).

Pop n pour. Medium ruby core. Nose of Colli funk, cherry, raspberry, green peppercorn, and some toast. Medium bodied, with solid acidity, layers of fruit and a smooth finish. I was impressed that this avoided even a hint of bitterness that I get with so many reds from this region. A blend of Schioppetino and Refosco, this will drink well for the next several years. A bit more complexity and a touch more length to the finish and this would have scored 90, easily. This might have opened up more with air, but it was so juicy and gulpable, it disappeared quickly once the crostinis and Prosciutto were served. Approx $44, 13,5% abv. recommended
