A pristine library release bottle, with a perfect fill. Mature, perhaps a bit past peak but I lack the familiarity with the varietal to say for sure. Subdued cherries, a touch drying, with some mushroom, mint and lanolin notes. Somewhat rustic in style.

A remarkably well preserved 26-year-old, 100% Schioppettino. Med garnet with a tawny rim. Clean, with dried red cherry, dried plum, leather, earth, smoke. The nose is developed. Aged in French oak barriques for 14-18 mos. and then in bottles for 30-36 mos. Dry, with med (+) acidity, med, polished tannins and med alcohol (12.5%). Very well balanced and harmonious, with med (+) to high flavor intensity and length, with a pleasant, slightly bitter herbl and balsamic finish. Drink now.

Ronchi di Cialla Schioppettino di Cialla Vertical (Shanghai): Only some nutty, oaky, mushroom, berry jam flavours remain. The structure is loose and fragile. Tannin is fading and acidity dominated. Passed peak
