In middle-age with plenty of time to go. With a good 2-hour decant, it began to open revealing a lovely savory texture with subdued flavors of black fruits and dusty minerals and fresh, high-toned acidity. Northern-Rhone like in some ways with notes of charred earth, bacon-fat and crushed stones. Not an in-your-face wine by any means but rather contemplative with an earthy subtlety. Finishes with slightly coarse tannins and a building complexity. 91+

Mid weight, blackberry with a bit of bramble. Red with a hint of aged brick. Not overly tannic but food foil helpful. Ready for drinking. Can hold for several more years. Opened 1 hour before; needs at least this amount of time to breathe.

A beautiful half-bottle of this showing flavors of smoky black fruits, forest floor and dark-woods spice. Structured but fairly resolved with good acidity and striking savory succulence. The finish is crisp but with smooth tannins showing notes of sweet earth and fresh herbs. Plenty of years ahead but lovely now out of 375ml with a 1.5 hr. decant.

Throws a heavy sediment, turning the wine dark, with some brown notes from suspended sediment. Interesting nose with mint, dust, and light cherry fruit. Nice bouquet. Good palate, too. Fairly rich, and folks are right, body-wise it echoes Bordeaux more than any other Italian red in memory. Nice. 4-13-16-8: 91/100.

Lots of leather, and rich dark fruit. Not particularly tannic or acidic, it just rode the line of a full-flavored red.
