  Jura wine dinner, with Michael M. and Susan: A generous offering from Michael. I had worried, unnecessarily, that the Jura wines would prove too weird for the non-geeks at the table, so we interpolated this bottle, between the chicken and the cheese. Slightly gamy, meaty aroma, with blackberries and leather. Intensely focused blackberry flavor, fine tannins, beautifully integrated acidity, with graphite and cedar on the aftertaste. The dark fruit is all there, but with lots of structure and no sweetness. Full body but no heaviness, and with an alcohol level (13.3%) that allows a sense of freshness. Completely drinkable now, but possibly still in the early stages -- a young adult. Very popular at our table.

  PnP, this showed beautifully and is probably in its late drinking window, dark fruit, cedar, pencil lead, hint of oak.

  BYO USA (Centropa, Oslo, Norway): Dyp mørk farge med murstens kant. Servert blindt og i samme flight som '96 av samme vin. Nydelig, lett støvete duft av solbær, sedertre og sigarkasse, ikke ulik '96-ern, men denne har også et svakt (kledelig) preg av medisinskap og gasbind. Stram vin med flott struktur og god konsetrasjon. Veldig flott og tett frukt, fullpakket med solbær, men uten det sødmefulle preget fra de yngrene cabernetene i flighten. Perfekt drikkemoden og nær toppen av smakskurven, vil jeg tro. Flott avslutning på kvelden og kveldens vin i min bok.

  Purchased six at auction - directly from former beringer winemakers collection….great provenance and boy did this bottle show up and show out.
  
  Going to echo a lot of the recent/previous notes - this wine is in a magical spot right now. Drinking like a Bordeaux and absolutely harmonic. Happy my birth year was a great vintage for Napa and even happier to have five more of these treats in the cellar!

  drank from magnum. Been waiting for the right night to drink this wine. 70th BD worked. stood up to the line of 2002 gosset champagne grand millesime, 2005 Vat 1 Tyrrells semillon, and 2001 Ornellia. Fully developed cab sav with lovely nose, fine grained tannins, lovely fruit on the front that runs thru to a great, lingering finish. Excellent wine
