  • Cellared since release. Remarkably intact cork, opaque ruddy garnet with a surprising touch of purple. Promising nose with baked black and purple fruits, some vegetative character, tobacco barn. Like an aged super-second Bordeaux from a ripe year. Other than acidity and body being a bit high balance-wise, surprisingly well preserved. Baked plum on the palate and even a little supple grapey fruit, together with aged characteristics create complexity. You would not mistake this for a 5-year old, yet it is not over the hill. Very nice finish with fruit which echos the palate.

Made in the later Sbragia years. Age-wise “à point,” to borrow a French phrase would not age much further. Not velvety, does not resemble a contemporary marquis Napa Cabernet. Better for leisurely dinner (tonight’s context) rather than an aperitif, but someone who is not wine attentive commented, “That’s a good wine!” 93

  • Great example of a classic Napa Cab with all the elements in balance. A hint of astringency isn't offputting. Not fading, should hold at this level for a few more years.

  • A rare PR disappointment.

  • This wine has held up pretty well... there is still plenty of fruit, but the structure is beginning to fade.
Polished and elegant. Drink up, it won’t get better and is likely on the decline.

  • Has gained a little weight since last tried—very full, round and voluptuous!
Packed with rich berry fruit and cassis, with a hint of licorice and mocha. I don’t think this is fully mature yet and will drink well for several years.
