Santa Rosa and environs

The event started Friday night at Starks Steakhouse in Santa Rosa (no tasting notes) with everyone bringing a bottle of wine.
Saturday we visited Littorai and then on to Freeman Winery where we tasted wines with the winemakers. Following the tasting we removed to the cave for dinner.
Sunday was a small gathering at Kosta Browne for a tasting of the current release, some library wines as well as barrel tastings (no notes) of the 08's.

Sunday tasting at Kosta Browne with Steve and Linda Kanzler were at the winery along with the winemaker Greg Stach hand dipping the reserve bottles to seal the capsules with wax. They were gracious to open a bottle and share with our group.
A great intimate and special event. Looking forward to the next one and seeing everyone again.

Tasted at the winery. Quick notes: high, bright acidity with brown sugar notes with a touch of sweetness n the finish. I preferred the Mays over this. Good.

Tasted at the winery. Quick notes: tannins showing with dry strawberry and raspberry peeking through. Good to Very Good. Needs bottle time, perhaps 2-4 years.

2006 Littorai Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard

Tasted at the winery. Quick notes: tannins showing with dry strawberry and raspberry but riper fruit than the Sonoma Coast. Good. Needs bottle time, perhaps 2-4 years. Some others commented that the finish ended with some funk. I didn't pick up on this.
