Like many 2017’s, this is drinking amazingly well. Perfumed, intoxicating and utterly delicious.

A lonesome single hiding in a box. Lovely fruit, beautiful wine. A nice surprise, although it shouldn't be a surprise. Mid 80's was a great period for Cali cabs.

Corton Charlemagne and Rousseau Chambertin: Another great bottle of the 91 Chambertin. Great vintage, great producer, great vineyard - all coming together perfectly. Loved it. Not decanted in advance, opened at dinner then enjoyed over three hours.

  • Comment posted by BradE:

9/10/2023 7:30:00 PM - I think many 1991 red burgundy’s have a version of this issue. My guess is it’s primarily because the vintage wasn’t as highly regarded initially (for maybe a decade?). And as a result less were stored and more were drunk early. Not sure if production levels were lower. I remember 15 years ago people sometimes had a hard time assembling full 91 DRC horizontals.

I enjoyed this and it stood up well being flighted against a 1959. I'd rate this as very good bdx, but not in the upper 90's region (i.e. great) as many here on CT find it. That's what makes a market.

5/29/2023 5:19:00 AM - There's no hurry if that's your question. It should last a very long time. If the question is when is optimal, then I'm not sure. For my tastes I'd hold and see if it develops further. My philosophy generally is to drink something when it's in the zone for your tastes and wait when it's not. But realize that others with good palates liked it a lot more than I did.

If you’re going to open a young La Tache, the 2017 is a vintage to consider. Surprisingly open, and simply delicious. One of the group had opened a couple in Beaune recently, so we carried the theme back to MN. Most of the CT notes here are spot on.

I'm not sure what was going on here, but this was just simply weak juice. Not pox'd. And like tinybubbles, I really couldn't tell what was off. You could drink it, but you didn't want to, and I dumped 80% of the bottle.

11/9/2020 4:41:00 PM - Yes, I've had the 06 quite a few times, and a good question. I love the 06, and tried to think about the comparison to myself. Honestly, I'm not sure, as both are excellent, but if I had to peg one it's the 06. But that could be because I've had it so many times and it has made a strong cumulative impression.

Solid, classy, and more open than the previous bottle.

  • Comment posted by BradE:

7/27/2020 6:41:00 AM - I honestly think either is good, but I think this has a long life. I drink a fair amount of white burgundy young, even when I think they will age. My best guess is this will easily age well, and it's under Diam so I'm not concerned about premox. So if you have one hold it. If you have two, drink one and hold the other.

Purchased this in half bottles. A big factor in deciding to buy it was that it's under Diam, which as a buyer of white burgs I'm supportive of. A very good wine, complex and extremely enjoyable, even at this early stage. Glad I have them.

  • Comment posted by BradE:

4/5/2020 11:54:00 AM - Pods. I think the 14's will drink well from early days on, but likely will last for quite a while in the cellar as well. Personally I'd drink them in the near to medium term, rather than think of them in the 10-20 year category. But well stored, they might be fantastic then as well.

2010 Great White Burgundy Dinner (Eli's Table - New York, NY): Served single blind. Brilliant wine, plain and simple. Floral with so much orchard fruit and savory spice in an incredibly Old School style. Dense, powerful and long with seemingly tannic structure. Great now, with upside. Probably even better in another decade.
