5/13/2024 - Xavier94 Likes this wine: 94 pointsDeep color, at first shows a marvelous sweetness in the form of maple syrup, mocha/coffee and nougat that do not take away from some intriguing notes of soy sauce reduction, bacon fat, smoked meats and a subtle dusty leather note. This has gone entirely tertiary and more about the sweetness to the remaining fruit with perhaps, the barest hint of any sous bois influence. Creamy with heightened glycerin/creamy feel in the palate. No eveident undue oxidation and almost liqueur-like in it's chocolate-minty character. A lovely treat and experience. Thank you, Joe!! |

Today it is not tight, but still dominated by its structure, and the fruit feels fully mature, if a bit passed. We decanted half the mag and left the other half in the bottle. The wine in the decanter went off incredibly quickly (a couple hours), and this note is coming from a fresh pour out of the bottle, which is more expressive. The aromas are vibrant, soil, sous bois, a beef stew, and yeah, some fruit. Smells nice, and shows some elegance. But definitely feeling a bit old. Medium intensity acidity on the palate, which then transitions to quite a wall of acid on the finish which has some nice intensity on the finish (the acid is really muted from the decanter version). Apple skins, macerated fruit lingers, but it all feels a little past its prime without much fruit left. Pretty surprising. Perhaps this bottle was not in the best condition. |

The palate is very nice as well and shows some tertiary character, sous bois, but still plenty of fruit and feels slightly sweeter than the nose. Good finish. This was a really good, very traditional Burgundy that's probably drinking close to peak right now. |

Great acidity with citrus flavors, green apple, more peach, and a hint of apricot. It's very ripe but actually well balanced by the acidity and brighter flavors. Long finish. This is excellent, wow! It's beautiful now but will only improve with age. There's probably a touch of Botrytis but I felt it didn't distract from the Riesling flavors. 96+ |

Quite high acidity on the palate with strawberry flavors and forest floor. Nice finish. This reminds me much more of a red Jura than Burgundy and while the wine is very light on both nose and palate, it's quite complex, subtle, and deep. Wow, this is actually really impressive. Almost like a young Overnoy Poulsard... 94++ |
