Popped up in a local reputable store a few weeks ago for a friggin steal so I couldn’t pass them up…bought the shelf
Tasted tonight with filet and it was a delight; I agree with the previous note stating that the drinking window should be extended, though I think the best time is now.
A very deep garnet color, typical of a 15yr wine. Dried fruit, black fruits, and pencil on the nose. Nicely balanced in the mouth; tannins are moderate yet still grippy but acidity keeps it all together and ends in a long finish. The French oak is present for sure but not overwhelming.
Better than the 2007 I think, although I didn’t have this one young, nor the ‘07 late. Glad I bought the shelf out.

Drinking very well right now, a very good QPR wine, definitely recommend and time to drink up any holdings - no further upside to more cellaring. Soft, balanced, dark purple, oak and tannins all gone but a solid fruit and acid core remain and drinking elegantly and beautifully right now. Nose of dark fruit, brambles and rose with an initially dark fruit palate that gave way to more mocha, coffee and chocolate notes on the end.

Consistent with earlier tasting notes, deep ruby purple coloed, medium to full body, complex yet elegant, supurbly balanced and polished black raspberry and black current flavors highlighted by floral, smooth oak and spice with hints of cassis and mocha turning to smooth silky tannins on the lingering finish. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2021/03/flora-springs-trilogy-napa-valley.html

Very dark red color. PNP, drank several glasses over 3 hours. My, this was in a perfect spot tonight. I had thought two years a go that this might get a little better. Well, I was wrong. This bottle was about as seamless and effortless as it can be. The nose was wide open from the start offfering a wonderful perfume of cassis and pencil lead with a high register potpourri blend top note. The palate is so harmonious, the tannins are soft and integrated, the fruit has so much purity, cassis, mulberry and boysenberry and the pencil lead is woven throughout. This was long, luxurious and silky. Such a well crafted wine in its absolute prime. I've always been a big fan of Trilogy, and this reminded my why. I kept saying to myself, I need to get more....

With dark inky color, this exhibited medium-full bodied, nicely balanced and well integrated forward black and blue berry and black currant fruits with a layer of mocha and hints of sweet oak - a pleasant, very tasty, simple easy drinking wine, smooth soft tannins on the lingering finish.
Very dark red color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 2 hours. This took abut 30 minutes to really open up and continued to evolved over 2 hours. Subtle earthiness on the nose as this opens, that later builds giving more of the Bordeaux-esque nose that is typical of this wine. A mix of dark and red fruits, with black cherry, dark red berry, cassis, pencil, and slightly firm tannins with a medium finish. A good Trilogy, may improve a bit more. 91+pts.

not sure why I ended up loving this wine so much...right amount of fruit, super linear and clean with some elegance...acidic cherry, brick, earth...really good...couldn't stop drinking it. really good complexity, not overwhelming, but subtle and sophisticated.
Evolving nicely with flavors of white, black and green pepper, wax and meat. Savory and delicious. 2008 was a cool and under rated vintage just like 2006. I think we will find some 2011 wines fall into this long lived less sweet and ripe category.

A nose of dark fruits, tobacco and spice, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied Bordeaux blend, with blackberries, black currants, tar and cocoa with a long spiced finish. One of my favorite wines…delicious and classic. www.winelx.com

Have almost always liked trilogy and the 08 copy is a good example. Not an in your face, this has room and time - it doesn't overwhelm, doesn't assault the palate, but there is plenty in there. Might not last till after I'm gone like some of my Bordeaux, but that's ok.

Decanted and trained for sediment (had a bit) ... This is still just drinking beautifully. Super sad we dropped and broke one of our last bottles, but still enjoyed this fresh, bright blend. Strawberries, cherries and a touch of blue-black fruit to open. Good backbone, a touch of smoke and mineral. Well-balanced, well-made and all-around wonderful wine.

Soft notes on first taste. Solid long on mouth and palette. Jammy, and dark berries. Slight tannins are well balanced with a surprising long finish. Tasting notes show this to be just drinking now, in the last year or two. It tastes pretty mature and not sure if it will hold up for long.

This wine is definately getting into its drinking window as this is its best shoing for me. Fruit has come forward right from the start, but even more complex and open on the second night. Very smooth integrated tannins, and a solid finish.

Jamminess just shy of too much which fortunately dissipates with several hours in the decanter. Has all the blah blah blahs working harmoniously but you won't say wow. Still, very good QPR, esp if you find it for under $40. Other recent Trilogy vintages have been more profound.
Opaque garnet, with ruby rim. Black and blue fruit, cedar, spices, and a touch of cocoa on the nose. The full-bodied palate exhibits a silky texture, good richness, sweetness, and complexity, an ample mid-palate, oak and tannin on the back end, and closes with black currant fruit on the finish. This is all about balance and structure, the lush fruit pushing the envelope on ripeness but the other elements help it stop short of feeling jammy. Needs air to open up and integrate. Has a good life ahead of it.

Pleasant nose of of pine forest with dark black cherry. Quite interesting; although more subtle than most Napa Cabs in my opinion. I served it with a grilled steak and I liked that combination less than I expected. Balanced palate that opens with fruit and ends with an organic hint. Medium+ finish. Perhaps more $$$ than I would have liked.

Another installment of the incredibly consistent and complex Trilogy. Give this time to open up. It was better on day two. Earthy nose for a Cab blend. Bold fruit, with a dense mid-palate. Held up well against the NY Strip. Soft, lengthy finish.

excellent color, deep red and dense. nose of cedar box and cassis, some black fruits. Soft tannins when first poured masked dark fruit flavors. after being open for 40 or so minutes the tannins slipped into the background and the fruit came forward to steal the show. Excellent balance, rich, dry, black fruits. Very good wine.

Pop and pour ... One of the most consistent and quaffable blends out there. Rich and lush, this one is a blueberries and cream dream. Enough backbone (acid and tannins) to provide balance, without being rough. Imminently drinkable.

Opened on a Thursday night, re-corked and fridged. Served two nights later to some guests to better effect. Would suggest sitting on this wine for a few years to let the tannins mellow, or give it a nice, long decant before serving. This is a very straight-ahead Rutherford Cabernet, with the flavor profile you'd expect, and the balance tilting towards the fruit.

Not as good as I hoped. The mouth feel was initially a little thin with cherry and tobacco notes. 4 hours in a decanter helped greatly to round the wine out and develop more complex Meritage notes. But still not up to other vintages.

I've been a huge critic of this wine. This is the last bottle, and I'm happy to see it go. Bombastic attack with lots of sweet black and red fruit upfront. Sweet, extra juicy mid-palate followed by drying tannins on the back end. I realize I'm probably out of step on this one; however, my best advice leads me to believe that both decanting and hearty food will make this wine most enjoyable!

Opaque garnett color.and a light nose of some tobacco and licorice. The palate is well balanced and refined with a rich, rounded mouthfeel. Not exactly lush, but definitely rich. Nice dark cherry with some tobacco notes and a medium long and exceedingly smooth finish.

A great value in CA wine and hits all the right notes for me. Dark, rich fruit, with just the right amount of vanilla, and underlying touches of licorice and fig. Full bodied and balanced with a long finish. Highly recommend.

Comments about giving this wine some air are accurate. Two hours minimum. Once decanted and allowed to breathe, enjoy a very nice blend with lots of character. A hint of cedar on the nose and taste accent this blend perfectly. I really like the wine.

Wasn't sure what to make of the wine. Not a big fan of the Napa 08 vintage in general. After a short decant the wine was thin, disjointed, slightly bitter. But wait, have it sit for a while and let Mr. Oxygen introduce himself. What a remarkable transformation.Lush and fruit forward but definitely not a fruit bomb.Great lingering mouth feel. This smokes the competition in the sub $40 price range. Exposes Artemis as one dimensional and Jordan as weak.

Still young and a bit tight and tannic but with amply cherry/berry fruit and rich oak in a medium/heavy body, good mouth feel and decent finish that should get better with some bottle age. But at $70 release it's overpriced and a decent value at $32.

Pop and pour. Looks really nice in the glass, some cherry, eucalyptus, even cola on the nose along with some light oak. On the palate this is lacking the depth that I'd hoped for and experienced with other Trilogy's, and would have expected from the vintage. Fruit-driven profile with a bright oak treatment, little weight, and brief finish.

Too ripe, a complete fruit bomb, and absolutely no complexity. I love Napa Cabs and Meritges, this is just not my style and compared to other Flora Springs wines like the Caberent Rennie, and Hillside Cabernet, this isn't even in the same class. IMHO, way over the top with ultra-ripe, sugary fruit. If I didn't know better, I would have guessed this was an inexpensive Australian Red or something cheap from Central Valley! Not worth $37...

nose - blueberry, dark fruits, sweet oak mouth - deep dark berry fruit intermixed with coffee, fruit punchy midpalate, good round tannins on the finish. Definitely yummy, and if the oak settles down a little bit this could be a real winner. Try again in 3 years.

Decanted for close to 2 hours. Medium to full body. Nose of sweet currant, vanilla, black and red fruits. Approachable and rounded tannins with plenty of ripe dark fruit, vanilla, and cocoa on the palate that culminates with a very good, strong finish. Good but at $37 probably over priced for my taste.. Enjoy with a good cut of red, char-grilled beef!

Did not decant, but opened the bottle 3 hours before trying. Front end is a bit uneven yet as is the back end. The middle is smooth fruit. I think the front and back will come together in the next 2-3 years and this will become a 94 point wine.

I recently had this wine at a tasting and even though it is an 08 I went out and bought some. For me that is about as high a recommendation as I can give. At $37 a bottle it is mighty fine. Big fruit and tannins which are balanced. I had to drink another one just to make sure. But yeah it is really good cab. I suggest you put some in your cellar.

On the border of the 90+ pt. range for me. An excellent wine, with a good blue fruit and floral nose, but I am a little disappointed after how much I enjoy(ed) the 2007 Trilogy. The '08 is elegant, a little complex, the oak influence is almost perfect, but the finish is hot and the tannin-finish is a little rougher than I would expect at this price point ($52). Dare I say, almost has a daily-drinker quality to it, if that makes sense. It doesn't feel special like Trilogies usually do, maybe because I tasted next to several of their single vineyards which actually blew me away. On the good side, look forward to dark, ripe blue fruit and a not-so-full bodied structure. This is an alluring wine that I suspect will do even better with a couple more years in bottle. Maybe once their 2009 comes out the price point will drop like the '07 has, if this becomes available in the next 5 years under $30/bottle... buy it.

1 hr decant. Expressive nose of dark cherry, plums, earth and cedar. Medium plus body, cassis, plums, and pipe tobacco. Medium plus finish.

Still a bit young, but an enjoyable, approachable wine. Nose of fruit and earth, with good balance on the tongue. Smooth finish. Drank it with grilled lamb chops and it paired nicely.

excellent color, deep red and dense. nose of cedar box and cassis, some black fruits.

Very good to Excellent - not Outstanding. Comments about needing air are spot on. Started off a bit hot, then opened and mellowed as it sat around.

Not worth $37...

nose - blueberry, dark fruits, sweet oak
mouth - deep dark berry fruit intermixed with coffee, fruit punchy midpalate, good round tannins on the finish.

Maybe once their 2009 comes out the price point will drop like the '07 has, if this becomes available in the next 5 years under $30/bottle... buy it.
