Wow, this has aged wonderfully, or this was just an exceptional bottle - I don't know. Deep and nutty on the nose but still so alive with lemon peel and pineapple nectar, chalk dust, and dried yellow flowers. The palate has this waxy, deep, aged vibe but stays pristine and clear throughout with a mineral-infused intensity that I love. Lemon, orange, pineapple, the fruit blends so well with this dense honey, pickled ginger, even some green olive notes. Finishes rich with lots of oceanic tones. So glad I held onto this one for so long.

A good bottle of aged Muscadet from a quality vigneron has got to one of the French wine world's great pleasures. This particular bottle was just about perfect. It's developed even more richness and depth, with plenty of stony, herbal, and lemony aromas/tastes to keep it refreshing and impeccably balanced. Purchased in 2013 - will be looking out for other late releases from Luneau-Papin

This has really evolved well, developing a richer, more rounded texture. Still has plenty of acidity and minerality, but there is also that slightly rotten fruit (in a good way) note that older muscadets can have: they can start getting Chablis-like features as they age. Excellent QPR, and this still has a great deal of time IMHO (A-).

Very sound light greenish yellow. Scents of green apple skins. Typical light Muscadet weight. Could have a bit more zip, but excellent soil on the back end. This is not as good as it was 4 or 5 years ago nor as exciting as a 2007 Clos de Briords a few days ago, but it is churlish to nitpick when this bottle probably cost less than a dollar per year of aging.

Still developing, albeit subtly. Rather dumb out of the bottle, suggesting fatigue, but mild oxidation is a friend here, Adouze-style, and the wine comes around with time to give a very refined, nutty-savory flavor that is low-key but delicioius. I don't know how much future development may be in store, but would imagine the wine will hang at this plateau for a bit, so no need for panic drinking.

A Dinner Featuring Two 1998 DRC Wines (Friends' House, San Francisco): Light yellow. Flinty aromatics. Wonderful juxtaposition of a fairly round entry by Muscadet standards with a hint of ripe citrus followed by a stony, acidic finish. Great freshness. It stood up very, very well to a terrific Raveneau Premier Cru served next to it.

Opens nice and light, saline, with that curious note you often get in older Muscadet that suggests oxidation, but goes away with some air time. Elegant, refined, medium-light bodied; not a ton of depth and complexity, but well-integrated and health-giving. A good bottle; I won't hold my remaining from this vintage much longer, however.

Medium yellow. Lemon and saline notes. Again, more weight than your typical Muscadet, but crackling, snappy citrus and minerality. Completely dry. As usual, a ridiculous bargain for a 10 year old white wine.

this was good, with clean sourdough notes, clean river rocks, light lactic creaminess, not much saline/briney notes; young and not showing much age, softer without the sharp abrassive acidity younger muscadets often have. Still quite neutral though. This is a wine to drink on its own, or first with apps or oysters, but not in a big tasting. It easily gets drowned out. 88-89

A good bottle, if not outstanding. Muscadet sizzling acidity, nicely balanced, no signs of undue aging. Not as much depth and complexity as my best bottle from this batch, a few months ago. Won't be holding these much longer.
Better the second night: more refined, showing better depth and some complexity. So perhaps no rush after all.

Dinner at Sushi Kondo (Sushi Kondo, Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore): An excellent Muscadet, great with Sushi. I liked the nose on this, lots of typical saline, minerally oyster shell scents sprinkled amidst white fruit and white flowers. The palate was clean as a whistle, with a lovely pure depth to its white fruit notes. There was tons of fresh, bright acidity running through the body of the wine, yet it was never sharp or tart, just focused, precise and wonderful lithe all the way into a long, driving finish. Lovely saline accents and bits of mineral and oyster shell and lemon peel littered through the wine added a subtle complexity to it, yet one always had the feel that there was a lot more buried in its core, still waiting for time to unwind. There is a lot of extract on the wine and a great balance that suggests it will age gracefully for years yet. I personally would love to try it with 5 and then 10 and perhaps 15 years more under its belt. Unfortunately, this was my one and only bottle.

Simply delicious. Wonderfully textured on the medium bodied palate, with waves of gorgeous meyer lemon cream and bursting with a slurry of saline minerals. Subtle dried herbs and white flowers add complexity to the finish. There is a stunning depth of flavor and texture that is certainly and singularly aged muscadet. Excellent, and has many years left. Drink or hold.

Drinking beautifully right now, with a glyceral roundness to the texture that's new, half-mature flavors of tangy leather, and a decent acid spine that floats in and out of focus. Very robust, with plenty of life, but a great bottle to open now, if you have a few. Now I get the buzz on this wine.

MuscaDay 2013 (Tom's House - Washington, DC): Aromas of crushed sea shells, East Coast jetty rocks, hints of seaweed, but also some fresh lemon and potpourri. Rich and buttery on the palate, with lots of creamy pear and yellow flowers, but the acidic verve keeps everything else in check. This has a lot going for it, and I think it could age for another ten years easily.

Slow to develop, this wine has at last begun to take on a tiny bit of a lemon yellow hue, in contrast to the palest straw/green that it showed early in its life in bottle. The nose has that lovely lemony sea breeze mineral melon de Bourgogne character, but now there are barest hints of honeysuckle and early maturation. On the palate, still light on its feet, brisk, fresh, but today with a bit more of a creamy quality than in its youth. The finish is a bit clipped, still more to come with more time in bottle no doubt. A lot of wine for what it is and what it cost, and well matched with a simple dish of sauteed rockfish with a light dressing of taggiasca olive oil and julienned Tunisian preserved lemon.

Nice, though not great. Very subtle - needed air and better without food and with time to sit and pay attention. This bottle seems a touch tired, recently bought and don't know how it was stored, so that may be why it seems just a touch flat. But still good with many of the qualities others note still there, but just.

Med deep lemon. Med intensity with stone minerals, some lemon zest, flowers and hints of grapefruit. Dry, med+ body with high acidity, good grip with more minerals and lemon, 'salty beach'. Long aftertaste and good concentration. Needs lots of air, first half hour it seemed dumb. Gave more with air and higher temperature. Delicate, elegant style, mineral grip like a good riesling or chablis. Very good value.

I love these wines. This is in a nice spot but can age really well for a time to come. The nose is mineral driven, sea shells, a bit of saline and some limes. On the palate, dry, with a bit of bitterness in a good way. Minerals. Nice acidity. Long finish. Food friendly.

Beautiful bottle of wine that benefits from air and being close to room temperature. Growing up in Philadelphia I ate a lot of Italian Ice, and this reminded me of just that. Vivid lemon and airy floral tones make this just brilliant Muscadet.

Public Holiday Lunch at Kel's (Natura Loft): Really good. I learnt my lesson from the last bottle and opened this about half and hour before serving to allow it to breathe and, most crucially, ensured that it was properly chilled and not served at room temperature as the last bottle was. This time round, this showed well right off the bat. It had a beautiful nose, with gentle but persistent scents of seashells and stony mineral, a wash of lime and lemon and a suggestion of green apples. Lovely. The palate was at once clean, clear and bright, yet possessing a nice depth of lemon and green apple fruit lined with a delectable note of chalk and seashells - almost like walking along a gravelly beach on a windy, summer's day. Lovely finish too, with a creaminess nodding to the wine's time on lees. As would be expected, a ridiculously good pairing with grilled fish. A really nice Muscadet - time to get more.

"Simple" Midweek Dinner - Variety is the Spice of Life (Giant Garoupa Restaurant): Needs plenty of time still, but I enjoyed this quite a bit. A good Muscadet that, rather unsurprisingly, paried extremely well with a dish of live prawns steamed in Chinese wine. A bit clumsy when served too warm, it opened up to show a classic Muscadet nose laden with some lovely chalk and seashell scents, some grassy notes, a touch of white fruit and a bit of lime. The palate, given the lees contact, had a bit of flesh and weight in its shades of white fruit and winter melon. However, past that and it was a pure expression of varietal and terroir, with a minerally midpalate that was a bit saline, a bit savoury, with hits of citrussy lime lacing the white fruit and an oyster-shell-like metallic edge running alongside slightly bittersweet, rather stoney minerality licking at the back-palate. Very elegant, focused and balanced with a bit of character to boot. I liked this. A bit tight on the night, it should be a lot better in a couple of years' time.

4 Days in Las Vegas; 6/1/2011-6/4/2011 (Las Vegas, NV): Drank off the "by the glass" list at Lotus. I fear the bottle had been opened for a bit too long. Nose had some exotic floral and yellow fruit components, but the palate was horribly boring and watery. Not going to give it a score.

Concentrated fruit and powerful acids. Lemon, quince and a bit of straw are the strongest notes being somewhat reminiscent of aged S Blanc. Light minerality keeps this interesting. More powerfully fruited than most Muscadets showing off very strong concentration. Leaner and meaner on the second night and somewhat livelier at the finish. This might be at its best in the future though I'm not sure there is enough complexity to warrant the extra tariff. A very nice white none the less.

Delicious. Freshly picked lemons and limes, with an attractive stoniness. The purity of the fruit flavors here is admirable, as the lemons stay true to lemons, and the limes to limes. There is no candied meyer lemon sweetness--just pure summer fruit and razor cut. This may not be as sexy and bold as some of the Pepiere's I've had recently, but it's hardly lacking in stuffing and is simply marvelous--especially for the price. 6 years after the vintage, this is not showing even a day of age.

Big stonefruit nose noticible from across the room; on the richer, fuller-bodied side for a muscadet without the searing acidity I expect and love; still very well balanced with enough of everything; long finish; a very very good bottle of wine

Soft nose of gooseberry and smooth sea shells. The ripeness feints toward fruitiness in the midpalate, but despite the atypical weather of the year this remains true to its classic roots. Not as imposing or as structured as the '04, but solidly successful stuff nonetheless.

Weird bottle. Color seemed far more advanced than it should have been with a golden color. On day 1, it was really atypically fat on the palate, too. Dinner Chez Pelz: Amazing wine. Great minerality, great delineation, great finesse, great acidity, great roundness and no hard edges. To describe this wine in terms of fruit, misses the point of this wine, IMO, so I won't attempt. It is very floral, racy, zingy, and fun. Paired as well with the food tonight as any food/wine pairing I've ever tried. At the $16 I managed to snag this, this is a case buy.

La acidez está en su punto justo, muy sedoso en boca, acaricia, sutil. Final mineral y de frutas.
Para beber ya señores.

Pale buttercup; splendid salty/lemony nose; rounded, yet with a lick of citrus tang proving cut; stiff finish -this has plenty of time in hand. Very long.

Strongest nose of the three, lemon and salt.
Palate showed the most fruit, lemon, white grapefruit, saline, and salt.

On day two, this showed better, but had almost a madeirized feel to it...the cork was sound though. We drank it and it wsa OK, but I wonder if this bottle was flawed.

the first day it's got a lot of fat, with a sherbet-like lemon cream thing happening on the nose. the palate is creamy too, and not yet in focus. on day 2 this wine shows what it's all about, with focused acidity, well defined fruit and mineral flavors, and excellent balance. probably better to hold tis for a while.
