Needs at least an hour to decant. Wonderful earthy nose but the alcohol is starting to take over. Much of the berry flavor is gone on the palate but it is still very enjoyable.

Attractive and typical Turley raspberry nose but on the palate, little remaining fruit so quickly gives way to heat; finish is not short but with an off-tasting note to it.

Tasted blind. Med + to deep ruby, with med + legs. Med + intensity nose, with ripe black cherry, dried herbs, black pepper, baking spices. Elegant, beautiful oak treatment. Dry, with lots of ripe and baked fruit. Med acid and tannins. Med + to high alcohol. Full body, med + intensity and length. Good to very good quality wine, which would benefit from just a little more acidity. It is developed and ready for drinking, although I guessed it was 5 instead of 10 years old. New World, moderate to warm climate. Lack of pyrazines narrows things down. Possible varieties include Syrah blend, Zinfandel. I guessed Australian Syrah blend.

A: Deep ruby N: Cassis, cedar, black cherry, baking spice, black pepper, coffee, mint , peach preserve .The fruit is ripe and jammy and dried. P: Off dry, medium acid, medium smooth tannins, full body, high alcohol, medium (+) intensity and medium (+) finish C: A Very Good Quality wine. More balance between the off dry ripe fruit and the acid is needed here. The wine wine has some complexity and good finish and intensity. The wine is not suitable for ageing as the tannins and acid are insufficient to keep it fresh. The alcohol might serve that purpose but I see no tertiaries here and so the wine is unlikely to improve and increase in complexity.

Opaque purple in color. 15.6% ABV. Brilliant nose of brambly red and black fruits, white pepper and dried herbs. Full bodied with exquisite acidity and remarkable balance. Incredibly lush. Raspberry liqueur, boysenberry and pepper on the palate. The finish does not disappoint. So much to like here. Really great Zinfandel. Best over the next 2-3 years.

This has settled into a nice place. Wasn’t stored very carefully (closet racks), but has held up very well. Much better than when last tasted. Has opened up, although the fruit has pretty much dropped out. Left behind are mostly tertiary flavors and aromas of tobacco, black licorice, and tar with some nice spice and lavender to keep things interesting. Drink up. (= Worth Seeking Out, but Drink Now)

Opened with some trepidation given the notes below, but this was fantastic. Luscious nose -- raspberry, black pepper, underbrush and sage. Pure raspberry through the palate, bright with a savory streak. Lots of pepper, some hard candy and flinty mineral edge. Super long finish. Great.

As jonahfactor said, a curiousity. Used to the Cedarman being more of a brooder, but this is zingy like putting your tongue on the top of a 9-volt. Even weirder because the nose is of graham cracker and coffee grounds, so you don't expect it. Plum, raspberry, licorice, mocha flavors, more as expected, but the acid (and probably a little heat) ends up leaving you high and dry. 89 but at least a couple points higher if it integrates someday.

Initially thin, a bit bitter, tannic despite decant for an hour. After about 3 hours, opened up into a much more full wine early and mid-taste, but still a bit astringent on the finish

Splash-decanted and serially tasted over 2-3 hours, this wine proves itself to be a "bruiser" that is packed with black fruit... but even more so with edgy tannins. Bramble fruits, anise, crushed rocks and dried herbs reside in a full-bodied, fresh frame. Solid in the middle, it concludes with an astringent finish which includes a whiff of heat from the 15.6% alcohol. Enjoyable for what it is, I nonetheless find this wine to be disjointed and not worthy of extended cellaring. Drink now-2016.

This continues to be one of our favorite Turley Zins. Great nose of dark berries, cassis-like notes with that unmistakable eucalyptus/cedary overtone. Long finish. Excellent!

This one is a curiosity, a wine that's more teaser than something that delivers at this stage of its development. Difficult to determine where this will go. Air definitely helps. Right now this offering has a faint bouquet of dried flowers. The attack is bracing with acidity galore, which quiets down in midpalate, where plum and spice notes peek through. The action is all in the finish right now, with some nice secondary notes of tobacco leaf, grilled bread and earthiness. This could well be outstanding with more time, but it's hard to tell. Will save our remaining bottle until 2016.

This needs about 30 min of air to open, full bodied, a touch of alcohol mid way through, a bit disjointed still, should reach prime in 3-4 years, average value.

Dark ruby. Nose of graphite, blackberry, dark cherry, and pepper. Pleasantly rustic. Full and slightly hot in the mouth, but round and nicely focused. Medium length finish. A bit of peppery tannin on the back end.

Cherry tobacco on the nose. There is big fruit on the palate with blackberries and cherry. There is good tannin structure as others have noted. I think this could go another couple of years. This was a very good wine.

Liked this very much. Typical house style, although the tannins are more noticeable with this bottling than with other Turleys. Normally with these I'd say drink or hold, but based on the structure I think there could be some nice upside if given a little cellar time. 91+

Great wine but needs time. Opened too early but was so eager once I received the shipment. Gradually opened up over a couple hours. Still quite a pleasing wine. Big flavor, spice, medium plus finish. Turleys are my fav zin so I am biased. Keeping my other cedarman in cellar for at least a year.
