Light to medium yellow in color. Initially reductive on the nose which over time reveals gorgeous aromas of white stone fruits, lemon zest, yellow flowers and herbs. Intense and creamy at the same time, the palate shows citrus poached stone fruits buttressed by excellent acidity, energetic saline notes and a very long mineral laden finish. Excellent!

Corked. Cork was completely soaked and wine had leaked out into the cap. Smelt like wet dog the first 10 minutes but started to show the quality that could have been.
This is absolutely in the zone. The perfect amount of struck match greets the nose along with pure white peach and lemon fruits. The palate is direct and linear. There's a sheath of unctuous and sappy orchard fruits wrapped around a high-tensile mineral spine. It finishes with excellent cut and drives on and on.

OK. I don't usually get overwhelmed when it comes to wine, but this bottle smashed it out of the park and is without a doubl my white wine of the year so far.

Ripe and tart apple supplemented with floral and lemon peel. Good weight, better length. This continues to be an inconsistent wine. Bottle was a clear leaker, wet and slightly moldy under the capsule. While not the finest bottle of this wine I've ever tasted, this exceeded expectations give cork condition.

Quite angular. Dry, tort, and a stubborn old dowager that didn’t release herself much in the glass. I am going to try another bottle and see if it was variation and then hold another year. Not sure it will get better but its zesty crispness means it scores well and so well put together it wouldn’t surprise if some of the tension produced a little more future creaminess. Even with 9 years of bottle age at the time of tasting, the CdM was tasting very bright, youthful with abundant refined acidity, delivering a mouth watering tartness with complexity that just begs for food pairings (and in fact far more pleasure with food than just by itself). This does take some time to gradually open up and perhaps will continue to do so after a three hour meal! No decanting was done prior, although in looking back probably not a bad idea.
There was a lot going on from the bottle straight into the glass , prominent toasted oak, nuttiness and a bit of smokey aromas, with a mix of lemon and citrus, with the remainder stone fruits, hints of pineapple and peach that eventually would come more into the foreground over the course of dinner before evolving with some very light honeyed tones (towards the end of the meal, more confectionary sugars) and stones.
This could easily be cellared for longer also. Yet currently it’s a wonder to experience, especially that classy lingering but also remarkable slow fading finish.
In terms of food, it’s wonderful with really good bread & butter, and a properly done Mount Lassen Trout. Certain profiles like aromatic spices and seasonings could accentuate the wine’s bitterness in a not so good way so it is worth keeping in mind.
Very similiar to the experience I had with 2002 Michel Colin-Deléger et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru En Remilly, where the very last sip of wine from the bottle was the very best of the evening. It was no exception with this Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de La Mouchere. This is a sign of a brilliantly made super classy White Burgundy.

Uh ho. Mold on top of the cork on a well-cared bottle since purchase from release. The cork was a little mushy and looked mostly soaked through. But my fear subsided when I smelled the wine and found it quite vibrant. The first hour or two the wine was just working off its flint. Then it blossomed with lemon zest and peach pit. A balanced wine but I do wish for a little more precision.

This bottle was surprisingly closed at first, like it was bottled yesterday. Young crisp white Chardonnay at first. The true character only showed after a decant and 1 hour opening. Pure refined and linear still but a pleasure. This wine will need more aging.

Should probably have given this some air, but we opened it on impulse to sip while enjoying a fine sunset on the deck. Poured a beautiful youthful straw color, quite pale but vibrant. The nose was redolent of minerals and peaches, a touch of lemon. Quite bright acid on the palate, less forward than the nose. Some previous notes have said ripe, but I didn't get that at all. Needed to be swished around in the mouth to get a full impression. Densely packed, a bit linear right now and at first somewhat disjointed with a lactic note just as mid palate moved to finish. With about 15 min of air it came together into a more complete wine. All in all, I'd call this more generically Puligny than having real Mouchere character, at least for now. This was a very youthful bottle, with a number of years of development ahead, barring premox. Maybe not my favorite vintage of Mourchere for current consumption, but can give pleasure for sure.

Charmingly floral aromas with candied lemon peel and peach notes. Riper nose vs palate, where the flavors are still rich but there is clearly textural energy from start-to-(long)finish. Seems ripe, but a classic beauty.

Wow. This is good. Was worried when I pulled the cork as there was some yellow mold on the top of the bottle and the cork was soft. Nothing to fear however as this wine is just lovely in a bruiser sort of way. Voluminous and filled with lemon oil and oak spice. The palate is fullish yet precise - a nice mixture of heft not gone wild. A wine that amps up the intensity. Really love the finish which ties things off nicely. Should drink well for many years but the cork concerns me. Calling for rich seafood or a cream sauce. (93+?)

Not quite sure what to make of this. I’ve never had a premoxed bottle in 13 years of drinking white burgs. This had big, floral aromas and orchard fruit. The palate was a bit flat. There was some intensity without weight. Obvious class. Some grape fruit and apple skin, but also some aldehyde. I had the 2009 iteration of this a couple of times recently and both were world class. No score.

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. Rich apple, some lemon peel with good weight and moderate structure. I enjoyed this MUCH more mid last year, when it seemed much more harmonious. Odd. Still very good, but probably a 90 point wine today.

Nytt forsøk, men minimal utvikling siden i går. Mulig svak flaske bare?

A step up from my recent '10 Girardin Perrières and the best bottle I've had so far of this wine. Not far off Grand Cru quality. Light gold. Complex aromatics. Struck match on opening with a little vanillin oak. Spices, peaches, grapefruit, pineapples and a touch of passionfruit. In the mouth, rich, full and dense. Real intensity and power. Creamy but clean and fresh. Racy but not obtrusive 2011 acids. Well balanced. Lemons, grapefruit, caramel, blanched almonds and spices. Good length. If it survives premox (and there are no signs of premox here), it'll probably improve still further.

Flinty reduction on the bouquet. Also mandarins, lemons, peaches, pineapples and other tropical fruit, framed by spicy, toasty oak. In the mouth, there is the richness and ripeness suggested by the bouquet, but offset and balanced by relatively racy 2011 acids and minerality. Plenty of volume, power and structure. Citric and tropical fruit, blanched almonds, smoke, spices and caramel. Excellent length. It is very enjoyable even though the oak is yet to fully integrate. Close to Grand Cru quality. I expect it will be even better, and more complex, in another 2-3 years.

This obviously needed time so ignore my previous (hasty) note. Now this shows a classy "gout de terroir" mouthfeel and excellent length. It's perhaps still a little too buttered popcorn in its flavor profile to really shout WB, but that's just a quibble. Great persistence-now if it just had a little more lean minerality and elegance...

2011 White Burgundy tasting at the Magnum Society (Wellington, NZ): Describing the nose, MR noted some struck match and AH referred to reduction. Some spicy oak and candied orange peel on the bouquet was also described. Mandarin with some pineapple and other exotic fruit, I thought. On palate, AH referenced some caramel sweetness, suggesting that the wine might be a Boillot Puligny. It was observed that the wine showed good balance, length and oak handling (MR and PS), with savoury undertones also being mentioned. Mineral, precise and well balanced, I thought.

Get-together with friends. All wines were tasted blind. #12 The wine’s aromas lead me into a limestone quarry at first, but with additional aeration there are also subtle notes of citrus fruits, unripe pears and fine wood. Pleasantly dense with a creamy and mineral mouthfeel, inner tension and zappy acidity. Medium-bodied, with savory herbs and hints of vanilla. Long-lasting finish. Effortlessly manages to complete the synthesis of strength, structure and incited drinkability.
Langer Nachhall. Schafft mühelos die Synthese aus Kraft, Struktur und Trinkfluss.

Opened on Mother's Day and paired with King Crab. Cork was mushy and soaked through in spots, but came out in one piece. Wine was sound and showed well. Notes of pear another fruit that I've forgotten and the slighted hint of vanilla creaminess as it warmed, but not in a heavy handed way. Improved and rounded out as it warmed. Enjoyed over three hours. Nice wine, but I'd be more than a bit concerned if I owned several based on the condition of this cork. Drinkable now.

BORGOGNA NOVEMBRE 2015; 11/5/2015-11/7/2015: Dinner at Maison du Colombier.

Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL): From a double magnum #baller. Holy crap, this thing is sulphured -- no doubt the format doesn't help either. Lots and lots of sulphur, but under that is a very chiseled and steely nose with some faint grapefruit notes. The palate is just as massive, with a very dense and steely character and acidity that's just razor sharp. Very difficult to approach now for just drinking (well, that's probably because of the format), this is a wine that ought to make you sit down and concentrate on it. Without a doubt Henri Boillot is making some of the most convincing affordable examples of white Burgundy on the market these days.

This was superb. Prominent oak up front but very polished at that and quickly dissipated. Huge nose of lemon, nectarines, chopped herbs, and vanilla. Rich and mouth-coating on the palate but leaving a powerful, stony-mineral impression. Paired beautifully with a big seafood spread.

From memory. Straw colored. Very rich but fresh an energetic. Enjoyed with 5 friends. Eye brows went up in a very positive way when people drank this. Rich and seamless. White peach, stones and truffle. We drank it before dinner while cooking and were not able to concentrate as much as would have liked. Ah well. My only bottle and now it is gone. Really excellent Chardonnay.

Some struck match to the aroma at first then its all pure white peach and citrus. It had perfect shape in the mouth with a fruit sweet heart and rigid mineral spine. There is an unctuous feel to the wine but it is by no means heavy and you feel all of the precision and detail. Very close to Grand Cru quality for mine.
Very rich fruit, lots of vanilla but with plenty of acidity and minerality so it's not clumsy and fat. Very approachable early and room to grow. I'm starting to suspect 2011 may be better than expected for white burgundy.

My CT payment note says I paid $65 dollars for this wine from my allocation. Funny thing is, I don't remember buying it as part of my allocation.
Jokes on me, but I'm glad I do have it. It's an incredible wine right now after about 2 hours in the decanter. Super rich ripe apple and pear on the palate, that just lingers forever. THere's also that vibrant minerality and acidity to balance out the richness of the fruit and keeping the wine fresh. I think if the acidity wasn't so bright, the wine might have been too tropical and ripe, but it's just right.
If you have a bottle, don't hesitate to open one!

A light, pale yellow colour. There are floral-tinged flavours of orchard fruits, lemon, mint, chalk and a touch of vanilla. It's fine and elegant with a lively mineral chassis providing line and length to the wine. Lovely bottle. Give it 3-4 years.

| Pierre Péters | Henri Boillot | Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey |: The pure nose jumps from the glass with citrus and chalky soil tones. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, with great focus, purity and brisk acids on the long youthful finish. This will drink beautifully from the outset, but I would be inclined to give it just a couple of years in the cellar.
Magnum (Mostly) White Dinner (GT Fish & Oyster - Chicago IL): Magnum. Tough wine to assess this certainly has great fruit with plenty of apple and lemon, just seemed slightly awkward and imperfectly balanced at this very early stage in its development. Lean and nicely textured with beautiful, classic Burgundy styling.

GT Fish & Oyster - Magnum Night (Chicago, IL): A shame that this was the 16th wine tasted at dinner. My note literally says "yum" in three different places! Huge nose is youthful and rich. Palate too is very young with primary fruit and loads of energy. Yet maintains focus and balance. Flavorful and complex/layered despite its young age. Long. Delicious. Mid 90s rating for sure.

Flickinger "Significant Cellar" Tasting...the New Releases (Chicago, IL): Tasting, brief note. Nicely floral and spicy aromatic start with restrained fruit. Great flavors overall with slightly sweet, nuanced fruit that evolves start-to-finish, retaining density and richness with great energy.

Lovely bottle today, decanted for 2 hours
Flinty, mineral, citrusy, creamy butter nose but still very crisp and young on the palate. Will blossom in a few years.

No score.
