Amazed to find this still drinking really well. Nose that is both mineral and fairly floral. Rich creamy mouthfeel out of a wide bowled glass. Long fairly complex finish with both bitters and acids remaining. Wish I had more of these.

Last bottle. Downgraded from previous ones and perhaps undeserved. It was just as good when first opened but we kept this one vacuum sealed in the fridge for a week and when we tried it again, the flavor was gone.

This has smoothed out nicely. Mineral, white fruit, apple, pear, a touch of baked apple. Some nice acidity and a slight oxidative quality that gives this some nice complexity. Killer pairing with a simple tuna-fish topped salad with Italian dressing, 90 points with food, 89 points without. Drink in the next year.

Monthly Tasting Group: Spain (Solera, Mpls, MN): Pale gold color. 2oz pour over an hour. This was another nice wine, tart, citrus, grapefruit, good acidity, floral. Good verve. Nice finish too.

Bingo! Third bottle of three, and finally hit it just right. And it was FAN-tastic. First bottle earlier this year seemed outright harsh - oddly a bit _too_ acidic and sharp and maybe a bit spritzy. Second bottle suffered with an inappropriate pairing, when the "fish" hosts promised us turned out to be grilled marinated salmon, which really wanted a pinot noir and whose unctuous fat smothered the life out of this (so it became the opposite of bottle #1). This one was as good as its biggest fans proclaim, with vivid but not overly fat fruit, some fresh green herbs, and just-right cut. And it paired spectacularly well with salsa verde (Mexican - tomatillo & green chile sauce, with fresh cilantro). It did great with fried fish in this salsa, and the next day with chicken enchiladas and also chicken soup with onion/tomato/jalapeno/cilantro.
tl;dnr - pair this with fish, chicken, or pork in salsa verde = heaven on the cheap.

Initially, out of the refrigerator, it had grapefruit and tonic flavor with a healthy dose of acidity. After warming a bit; the scent revealed sweet stone fruit, orange and spice; and the flavor profile became more interesting, adding peach and melon flavors to the mix.

Huh, this seemed like a completely different wine from my 4/18 notes. Served with grilled salmon (I was told "fish" and expected something more like snapper or bass) at our friends' place, and following Renardat-Fâche Bugey-Cerdon demi-sec as an apertif, this seemed almost round and mellow. Its cut was overmatched by the fish's oil. I won't judge it unfavorably for not being quite the right tool for the job... just hoping that my third and final bottle gets a favorable pairing and shows, in Goldilocks fashion, just right.

Strong minerality by albarino standards. Salty citrus nose, light to medium weight mid palate, with grapefruit pith on the finish. Acidity is a bit less than is typical, but may have diminished due to bottle age.
P.S. Actually, this opened up a bit over time in the glass, with some additional complexity in the nose (something slightly toasty, maybe almonds) and the finish gained some length. It's possible this wine will actually improve with a few more months in bottle. Also benefits from a larger glass than I would typically use for Albarino.

Wonderful! Very true to the Albarino grape. Agree with Wine Spectator: it has a generous, pillowy texture, but plenty of citric acidity to maintain freshness and liveliness.

Huh, I must agree with words like "piercing", "angular", and "bites" - there's a lot of power and sharpness here, analogous to a Dr. Pepper with double the carbonation: it's really so lively I couldn't fully relax and appreciate it. I don't know about waiting a year, but maybe it will settle down a bit by the latter part of this summer. There's clearly a lot here, and I bet the next bottle is superb.

Nose of citrus and wet stone. Apple and pear is up front in first impression. It has a certain kind of crispness that turns into a long finish that holds a more determine structure. Reminds me of fields with recently harvested hay.

This is a superb, luscious Albarino. It has floral, citrus, peach, mineral, spice and ocean flavors that are viscous and multi-layered. A note of tonic rounds out the finish.

Fruit a bit over powered by an angular minerality. Smoothes out nicely on day 2. I know this is Albarino, but it may actually benefit from a year in the cellar. 88+?

I really enjoyed this subtle wine. It is an excellent choice for pairing with most appetizers, salad, seafood, egg or chicken dishes. Clean, crisp, citrus notes, lemon drop finish. This is uncomplicated joy.

Pretty serious albarino, when I tasted this last march it was super fresh with vibrant, piercing lemon and pith notes and a hint of fruit sweetness behind it, now the fruit is subsiding and the dry pithiness is coming to the fore, making it almost reminiscent of savennieres sec. There's a good amount of material here, and while it won't improve, there's no rush for the next year +.

Slightly sweeetr, almost fruitier than other Albarinos. Very nice indeed. A prize winner but probably not worth the £15 tag. Buy Castro Celta at £9 instead.
