Although this was still excellent (pnp), I think this is at peak and would not wait to drink this. After being open for 2 hours, this was starting to show signs of oxidation. So drink now before it is too late

Wonderful bouquet of blackberries, cherries, spices, mint, undergrowth. Rich palate of ripe, exotic berries, spices, fine line of acidity and tannins, lush, leading to a long spicy finish. A tiny bit if bitterness. In a great spot.

Subtle bouquet of ripe cherries, cherry candy, crushed stones, flowers, kirsch. Ripe palate of red berries, sweetness, with some residual tannins, providing a bit grip, some freshness and bitterness, spices on the finish of medium length. Clearly from a ripe vintage, but well made.

Fresh showing of the Sangiovese grape with black fruits that are perfectly ripe. A lovely mineral touch during the aftertaste and just a fraction of wood is present.

Our first bottle of this vintage - you get a lot of dark fruit - sour cherries and blackberries - we are clearly also getting earthiness and char coal - also camphor, pepper and some tobacco. Tannins and acidity are both medium+ but well integrated - the wine has great balance. The wine is still young but actually drinking quite well - but we will give it a couple of years before trying another bottle. We will start with a well deserved 93.

Unmistakably Tuscan! Huge, massive even, yet not without appeal. Loads of mint and bacon fat, backed by coal and mineral ore elements. Noteworthy harmony for such power. Who knows where this is going...but it is still young. There is an upside if it holds together. 92-93.

deep ruby colour. nose: some stones and earthiness, tobacco, cigar; super fruit - red and black cherries, blueberries; some black pepper and herbs - lovage. taste: high acidity; medium (+) tannins volume - super ripe. very fresh as for the age; some black cherries (some from compote), ripe red cherries, plums even ripe raspberries. Spices - cinnamon, cloves, allspice, liquorice; very long finish; high flavour intensity. outstanding.

Initially slightly oxidized touch, then becoming a bit unbalanced with the acidity sticking out, before integrating and becoming a more serious wine, all through 90 minutes. Bouquet of ripe black and red berries, eucalyptus, relatively primary still. Palate very lush, round, ripe, almost a bit syrupy, before a refreshing wave of acidity intermingles with fine tannins, leading to a medium finish. Works very well with the parmigiana in terms of intensity. Compared to the Pergole of the same vintage a bit less minerals, slightly more intensity. Very pleasant wine.

I loved this wine 2 years ago for its clarity and balanced character when still being fruit focussed, but was surprised by its speed of aging after that short period of time. Too much oxidation when p&p, after approx. 2 hours more elegant and integrated, but seemed 20 years old rather than 10 years.

Still fruit forward and lush. Opens with dark fruit, blackberry and dark cherries, fading to notes of mushrooms, anise and leather. Still seems relatively young. Probably has at least 5-10 years of life if properly cellared.

PnP that continually improved until it was finished some two hours later. In the early/mid part of its preferred window, there's a fullness and vibrancy to the juicy red/dark red fruits that provide the perfect complement to the forest, soil, brown spice notes that constantly circle the wine's perimeter. Med+ body, plenty of fresh acids, etc. This has some room to run, and is likely to develop greater complexity from here. As it is now, totally delicious. Bravo, Paolo! 14,5% abv., natural cork. highly recommended
Had this side by side with the 2010. The 2010 is more tannic and dry; but has a lot more depth and richness to it. The finish lasts forever. The 2011 is good and easier to drink with a little lighter body. Drink now on the 2011.

In a good time in its life and well within its drinking window, albeit has a lot of life ahead. Decanting advisable. Bright and on the fresh side, well made, soft wine but with good structure. Well managed and in balance ripeness and this felt like its made with a light hand and is not pushed. Nice red fruit on the nose, light herby edge, quite aromatic, has a sangiovese signature for sure. Very good 90

PnP. A wonderfully delicate expression of a pure sangiovese. Floral and supple, with a palate of plums and red fruit that almost hints at a cab based wine (none here). working with wine 2016 seminar 1 - tuscany (Hilton Hotel, Sydney): Spiced, dense cherry and caramel oak on the nose. In the mouth though if's juicy, fleshy, with cherry flavours, drying but silky and palate tannins. Slight alcohol heat encroaches. A little simple but long and beautifully balance. Very pleasant. The oak is a still a little pointy which isn't an issue for me... and with time the oak integrates...perhaps a year in bottle and then good to go. Oh, this was under screwcap for the Australian (overseas?) market. Basically he bottles the stuff to go under cork 6 months earlier.

Bottle in perfect condition. Young, dark ruby. Lovely seductive bouquet of cherries, dark berries, coffee, spices and some liquorice. Some oak and vanilla in the back. With time in decanter a nice meaty note appears. Good acidity, nice grip, medium plus in the body, firm but still quite soft tannins. A bit dusty feeling, but the tannins are not too dry, and a good thing is that the alcohol stay in the background wich makes the wine quite balanced. But I expected more in the finish. A bit too one dimensional and not as long as I expected. But still a good effort.
This wine improves very well over night in the decanter. My recommendation is + 6 hours decanting. I found the wine at its best after 18 h.

The wine shows a nice bright red color. The nose is med+ intensity, undeniably Italian, filled with red cherries, full spicy and nicely oaked. Give it more time in the glass and it gets broader, the spice gets sweeter, the fruit more juicy. Beautiful earth notes complement the frame. In the palate the wine is dry, it follows the same pattern as the nose with the juicy red fruit, nice spice and oak treatment, tannins are there even though they don't show that much, wek khidden 14.5% alcohol, medium body and wonderful balancing acidity. The wine ends with a spicy cinnamon, red cherry and leathery medium finish. I'd like some more concentration and weight as it doesn't quite live up to its perfume. Outstanding quality, drinking beautifully now but will hold, drink on its own or with food. 90+ for now

Retailer tasting (@ N in L): Beautiful bouquet with dark forest fruits, sweet spices like vanilla and a pleasant touch of barnyard/rustic impressions. A great pleasure already and certainly still around 2020. 91 – 92

Immediately seductive, with an immensely pretty and aromatic bouquet that seamlessly blends old polished wood, damp forest floor, vanilla and exotic spices with velvety red and blackcurrant fruit. Intense and bright flavors of crisp redcurrant and dusty earth dominate the palate with notes of coconut and orange rind for further complexity. The finish lingers beautifully as forest floor and scorched earth characteristics take over.

The wine ends with a spicy cinnamon, red cherry and leathery medium finish. I'd like some more concentration and weight as it doesn't quite live up to its perfume.
Outstanding quality, drinking beautifully now but will hold, drink on its own or with food.
90+ for now

Fruit and spice on the nose, minerality on the palate up front with balanced tannins.

Retailer tasting (@ N in L): Beautiful bouquet with dark forest fruits, sweet spices like vanilla and a pleasant touch of barnyard/rustic impressions. Same impressions on the palate, cherries as well, good acidity and mild tannin and a pleasant touch of sweetness. This is a lovely and well balanced wine with a good length.

Really nice, fruit flavor with enough body to stand up to osso bucco.

Smells really nice from the rinse. Wow does that smell really good. Sweet spice and cherry fruit. This really does smell awesome. Tight knit texture with tons of stuffing. Bill notes tight and pure. And that indeed is where its at.

VinItaly Day 3 (Verona, Italy): More density, crimson with lighter rim; cinnamon, plum, sour dark cherry, tobacco, some oak that needs to integrate; fuller palate, broad and persistent, acid seems a bit low, some cedar; good.

Could use more time but it is drinking remarkably well after an hour decant. Gorgeous cherry and light oak with a long smooth finish. One of the best of the 2011 vintage in Italy that I have tasted.
