Now this was good, but the Beauregard I drank at the same time was just clearly better. Still this was nicely mature, candied lemon and red apples to go with the chalky minerality.

Opened last two bottles of this wine. The first was dark yellow and oxidized. The 2nd was also fairly dark and tinged with hints of oxidation, but we kept the bottle refrigerated and tried it again two days later… still rather forward, but certainly drinkable. these were part of a purchase years ago; the previous bottles were all excellent, but clearly these two were well down the road. Disappointing at best. I am wondering if these wines are simply not made to age.

Pattes Loup Chablis Butteaux 2014. Ai ai, dette var lekkert. Veldig sexy med begynnende modning. Klokkerent. Chambolle 1er dinner: Someone mentioned it was a little advanced and I could see why, a little more developed than my bottle two years ago / the 2012 drank at the start of this year, as the ripe fruit showed signs of losing acidity and gaining more sweetness. Still pleasurable but drink up.

This bottle seemed to have travelled even further into Jura, with the lemon, sharp acidity and cheesy oxidation. Still very good but I think I found this simpler than I have before, especially the texture felt thinner now.
Edit: with several days in open bottle in the fridge I have to change my perception, it has sharpened up and delivers a chalky, sea breezy minerality and is now really Chablis as it should be. Raising score from 91 to 93.

Deep yellow. Brothy with early oxidative notes. Medium to full body. Good bitter citrus and salinity, but only average acidity (especially for a 2014). This has declined since last tasted in February, 2020. Drink up.

Opened slowly over course of 1.5 hours. Hints of age around the edges, but not premox, thankfully. Not effusive nose, but with considerable weight and depth in palate. Citrus, aged lemon, hints of mineral, floral, seashell. The balance and fruit are outstanding, yet the nuance and complexity are hinted at but not realized. Clean and compelling, as I've observed with other Pattes bottles (vent d'ange), gained richness with air.

In a weird spot for me. No longer tastes like a youthful, electric Chablis (though I didn't try this young, so can't say what it tasted like then!) but hasn't gotten very interesting with age yet. Will wait another 5 years on the next bottle.

Three years on from my last bottle and it is still very fresh. Rounder in texture than most Chablis, with creamy lemon and a cheesy note, some pineapple conserve and a chalky and slightly green note that I almost only find in good chablis and the occasional cotes d’auxerre. Brilliant stuff. I think I find this to be a notch above the Beauregard of the same vintage but they are both really good.

Tart citrus. Pattes Loup wines have such a special texture from the unique élevage, round without any flab, citrus and stone flavors — there's just gobs of chalky minerality packed in here. Very good.

Dull yellow. Interesting combination of underripe lemon and a hint of pineapple. Medium weight, some glycerine upfront, but a powerfully dry finish with a rush of acidity and soil. Terrific young Premier Cru Chablis with the structure that portends upside potential from here.

Lightly floral with lean apple and pear aromas and that salty, minerally character so uniquely Chablis. Similar flavors are so bright and elegant with very good length that ends with impressive power. Very good now, with upside from here.

Apparence jaune paille, densité moyenne. Nez discret, citron, foin.

Very elegant and complex aromas of lemon, sage, citrus and a saline/minerality. Silky mouthfeel, full where it needs to be, but delineated by a fine acidic energy. Walks a nice balance of round, elegant fruit and edgy/stony verve. Young, but giving. Splash decanted and enjoyed over 90mins. Drink or hold.

Dekantert 2 t. Litt kaldt smør i avslutningen. Lang.

Drank it over three days, certainly impressed how it improved day over day! Very mineral and pure, generous white fruits, citrus, strong minerals, modest salinity, very focused and serious. Not offered as herbal and complex nose as Raveneau but certainly offered solid enough structure. On second day onward, there was modest light honey sweetness on the finish, along with strong minerality and gentle spices. Decent wine.

Superb tonight. Pale straw yellow color, iodine and sea air nose, quite lean at first but great verve. With about 30 mins in glass began to take on some weight in midpalate, some yellow fruits emerge. A true Chablis with great purity. Perhaps not the weight or density of Raveneau from this site but really good. Has years to go.

Mine. Better than previous bottles. Bright medium yellow. No oxidative notes on nose or palate but no Chablis typicity--just super tropical. Passion fruit leads with pineapple and lemon and the sweetest finish of the day. Fruit completely dropped out of leftovers the next day.

This bottle is hitting on all cylinders, unlike the previous one that had some reductive notes. This bottle has lovely citrus fruit, including grilled lemon and lemon curd, with good minerality and acidity. This wine is more round than a typical Chablis and reminds me more of a Meursault.

It has been a year since I have tried a bottle of this wine. I do agree that it is a little reductive on the palate. So I tend to agree that perhaps we should be drinking these bottles sooner than later. Nevertheless, I do find the wine to be enjoyable now with citrus and even some pineapple notes, zippy acidity, good minerality. I will probably put start pulling the corks on my remaining bottles when spring finally arrives in the Midwest.

A little more oxidative than a previous bottle. Slight aldehydic character for the first 30 minutes reminiscent of many, low SO2 wines, but mostly without apple cider flavors predominating. Seemingly freshened up with air. Rad texture with almost a brioche character I would associate with Champagne raised on lees. Probably a polarizing Chablis for many, and not really my preferred style or even true, 1er Cru quality. The cool kids assuredly adore.
Like the August bottle, showing some oxidation. Ripe and silky texture, almost Californian and unlike any other Chablis I've ever had. Short arc for a 1er Cru, so a disappointment for the vintage though still pleasant enough with the right food. These won't get better.
Very very pleasant & attractive, much more than the PYCM St. Aubin Remily. Nose of apples, lemons, with more weight/plushness on the palate. In short, a much more enjoyable drink (at this juncture) compared to the St. Aubin.

Yes, the color is more golden than I'd expect from a '14 chablis. The nose and palate are on point, however -- a seductive melange of white powdered rock and focused, coruscating lemon-acid. It isn't effervescent but it is so replete with minerals and acid that it fairly buzzes on the nose and palate. Just love this stuff and wish I could find this producer more easily.
PNP.

This is an enjoyable Chablis, but it is fuller and rounder than most, more like a wine from the Côte de Beaune. However, it has nice citrus fruit, including lemon and some pear, minerality, zippy acidity and a good backbone for further aging.

Very good. Started very saline on the nose and the palate, with a bit of heat. With some air, and over the course of about 1.5 hours, it fleshed out significantly and gained depth and nuance. Will put my remaining bottle in offsite storage and forget about it for the next couple of years.

Synger uten luft. Storartet på duft. Transparent og luftig hvit og noe gul frukt. Oser av sjø og østers. Robust men hyperelegant. Kongevin.

The product of low yield biodynamic viticulture and minimalist intervention, and yet I get a curious dialectic tension between linear precision and a sweeping richness. This is almost sweet for the style, yet also piercing, a classy lady with a Derringer in her purse. Nose of green and yellow apples, lemon rind combined a little pastry that makes me envision a lemon poppy seed muffin, and confected jelly bean, with a palate to match. Full of green and Asian pears, yellow peaches, and a slice of ginger root atop a bedrock of gypsum and white stones slicked with butter. Aromas develop in the glass, beginning to grade into cheese territory. Finish is appropriately clean, although I’m still left thinking of sour soother candy and pear skins. A pleasing forthright (but not overwhelming) acidity coupled with a full body (for the style! ... Medium in the broader scheme of things). Some fruit, some older wood, and an impressive dose of lees.

Light golden in the glass, with a focused nose that is very appealing. Maybe a touch "richer" than I would normally expect from premier cru Chablis, but likable all the same.
Decent acidity, yet like the nose still a little fuller/"richer" than normal, and especially so in a classic vintage like '14. Young and primary - maybe it just needs more time to shed it's baby fat.
But while it may not present as a typical Chablis, I do like this quite a bit.

PNP.

Faint nose of apples, lime, chalk. Perhaps it was due to the setting - warm, non air-conditioned outdoors zichar place, the wine (or wines) didn't show quite well. Palate was yellow-fruited, but seemed rather short... Oh well, will try again in future under a better setting...

The color is fairly dark for a Chablis. The nose is aromatic with apple, pear with then that very typical minerality. The taste is so delicious, acidity is there without being too much, fairly round and ripe for a Chablis but very balanced with a long finish. Not what I expected of a 2014 but but nonetheless delicious.

Very soft at first, cashmere texture and seemingly simple though it clearly had good acidity underneath. An hour later it firmed up quite a bit and became more complex and textural. Decant for an hour minimum or, better yet, wait at least a year to open another.

Consistent with previous experience: simply excellent. Crisp and intense with good precision, yet fresh. Definitely something in reserve. I really should reserve another year before trying this again... needs time to add just a bit more roundness; still has its youthful sharpness. 92-93

Excellent. Crisp and intense with nice roundness and freshness. Medium body with some citrus character. Has nowhere to go but "up" -- nice drinking now but will improve in the coming years. This is even better than the 2013, which was no slouch, either -- just a little more depth this time.

Happy Birthday YB, HS 2016 (Wah Lok): Tasted blind. Reached venue late, so after 2 hours of air time in bottle already. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of slate and limestone minerality, citrus lime, slight green apple. Developing. On the palate, dry yet kinda almost off-dry feel, high acidity, medium alcohol (12.7%), medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of citrus lime, lemon drops, lots of limestone minerality, slate, slight green apple. Long finish. Very good quality as a wine. But this was a difficult guess. On one hand, my mind was telling me German Riesling ?Kabinett, yet somehow the weight on the body more than a typical Kabinett. Second guess, this had to be a Chablis Premier Cru then. Interesting. Very young now, needs another 4-5 years to develop.
