Fantastic rose' from KB! Fresh, good pinot fruit, but not too fruity, good concentration without being tooty fruity. In fact quite elegant and delish. Tournament of Rosés from Eric of Epicurus.

Again, very much alive and kicking... All my prior note still apply but it came with a little bit more tartness and the alcohol with this bottle was much more controlled. Wish I had more.

Very Good.... Quite surprised how much I'm enjoying this rosé that has a few extra years on it. Though a little muted, there is a bit of alcohol that overwhelms a classic pinot nose. There is a tiny amount of weight on the palate, but it pops with strawberry and watermelon rind in flavor. Controlled acidity and pleasant finish but the alcohol lingers.

4th annual Lobstah-phest this was served chilled. Beautiful color - the nose of slight strawberry fruit and alcohol esters. On the mouth minimal citric fruit left, and heavy clear alcohol heft. Decent but has lost most fruit up front. I recommend drinking up else turpentine will be the result. Day two+ under vac-u-vin: rubbing alcohol notes dominate, and this has fallen apart. Heavy handed, this juice should have been run through the de-alcohol treatment to knock the % down a couple. This is good for degreasing the engine at this point.

This pinot rose should be proud to have been enjoyed over fresh alice and some taramasalta in the backyard wtih guests on a nice summer night. It showed very well, and I would buy a case if I could. A bit of a citrusy note, nice and round, with a fresh clean finish

Blind Pinot tasting (Bellevue, WA): The nose of this wine had strawberry and juicy watermelon aromas. No rind notes on the watermelon like the Tempier had - just the ripe, juicy flesh. The palate had raspberrry and watermelon flavors. This wine wasn't spritzy at all like I had remembered KB Roses. This was a pleasant surprise to get to taste one again since KB stopped making them after the 07 vintage.

Drank at Hog Island oyster co. in Marshall today and was quite impressed. Lots of strawberries and citrus flavors that went so well with the oysters. Acidity was great and vibrant. Everything was in its place. Really great, wish I had more. These showed much better than the '07s and '05s!

Much better than expected. None of the spritz of the bottle I had last year. Very round with no harshness. Subtle notes of strawberry and melon. Hopefully the 07's should really be fine next summer.

Much better bottle than my first. When compared to the Kutch Rose, this wine is bigger with more weight than the Kutch, but that also gives it a more cumbersome profile. Strawberry and cherry flavors assault the tongue, but the low acidity gives it less verve than the Kutch. Overall, it is enjoyable for those who like a bigger styled, lower acidity wine.

Opened to celebrate one of the rare warm and sunny summer days we have had this year. Just Michael and I. We killed the bottle. Lots of strawberry and the wash of acidity makes it a very food friendly wine, which is why we emtied the bottle so easily.

This is a beautiful rose at this time. The strawberry nose is all over the glass and the color is gorgeous red. The palate is again, crisp with nicely integrated acidity. The hints of Pinot Noir are there and the passion fruit is a nice layer. The finish is medium, but refreshing. 7/19/07 was an off bottle.

Nice hint of strawberry on the nose and palette. Could almost be a light Pinot in a bad year in Burgundy, until you realize that this Rose has 14.2% alcohol. This is a bug rose, which is why it is a light Pinot by CA standards. I found this to be more enjoyable that the 2005 KB RRV Pinot I opened earlier this week.

I served this with grilled chicken paillard over a bed of mixed greens of arugulla, watercress & spinach topped with chopped vine ripe tomatoes, red onion, red wine vinegar, evoo, sea salt & fresh cracked pepper. Popped & poured pool side. Initially served too cold, medium bodied, slightly bitter and alcoholic. this wine was much better with food and actually improved & picked up a little weight with some air time and proper serving temp. 50+5+13+14+5=87

Nice light red color with a nose packed with scents of strawberries, watermelon, some sweet soil and flashes of cinnamon and spice. I was concerned from others notes there would be significant heat but served at cellar temp I found none. Seemed a bit spritzy on the first sip, which quickly went away with air time. This was definitely thinner than previous Rose's I've had from KB, but carried pleasant flavors of strawberries, raspberries and cream mixed with a bit of watermelon. Lacking a bit in the acidity department and the finish is rather short, but a very pleasant wine that I think would be great with some food out on the patio on a lazy afternoon.

though nowhere near as good as the 05, I found this perfectly drinkable on a warm spring afternoon. nice pinot funky nose, strawberry, and watermelon. slight heat, but i kept it cool enough to suppress most of it.

Slightly chilled. Served w/ appetizers of crab rangoon and caprese salad. Light clean and crisp aromas of strawberry, watermelon and heat. Some initial sweet fruit, weighted down by glycerine and alcohol....strawberry, rasp and watermelon notes, with some tannic kick bludgeoned by the alcohol on the finish. Rides a fine line between being light on it's feet and too hot...I would have preferred this to be a bit lighter. Overall though, a different and nice Rose with some nice qualities. Recommend this chilled and shared amongst several people for an initial splash, not as a session wine.

summer ripe strawberry, vanillin syrup, creme fraiche, bright acidity in the beginning made this one a sparkler - perhaps the only revealing aspect of quality wine-making. everything else after the first hour of being open churned into a a little too sweet making it more of a parody of a dessert wine. but, i liked it, just not for the price.

Blah! This is a rose? EtOh mixed with a chemical / medicinal note. No decernible fruit - maybe a hint of strawberry if I really thought hard about it. On the plus side ... at least it was not sweet.

I don't have a problem with this wine? Not as intense in alcohol as previous bottles....some watermelon vodka, floral dries roses, raspberry sherbet, cinnamon waffles w/strawberries on top, slight Pinot funk. Not as "complex" as previous KB Roses...does somewhat taste like KB juice, just watered down. Still, on a hot day....good sipper.

Clear blush color. Nice nose of strawberry and red raspberry. Strawberry repeats on the palate with spiciness and great length. Still a little hot on the finish. Much better than the last bottle. Very good. Value is still out of whack.

Interesting off red clear color and a muted nose of berries and a little heat...not engaging on first sip, but as it warmed up there were more nuances of fruit texture to help balance it out. Slight edge of acidity to frame it. Time to drink up...

Seemed wierd drinking this while it's 30 degrees outside instead of out by the pool, but none the less a fun bottle for easy drinking. Good acidic bite on the attack balanced by a slightly off-dry finish, fruit is not overwhelming and almost in the background

Had with antipasti/crostini. This is only the third rose I have ever drunk so I have very little experience on what to expect or look for. This was a pleasent wine, light strawberryish fruitiness. Did not detect the alcohol others have referred to. A light, dry wine to accompany a light meal.

Firm clear red color...rather muted nose of red berries and maybe some spice...was served cold. Firm substance and pretty good balance with a nice fruit grip and taste balanced with enough acid to pair with Thanksgiving noshing...held it's own with the food quite well.

This had an interesting cinnamon note and good fruit, but the alcohol really burned on the finish. I served this too warm; it probably would have been more enjoyable at about 40 %. At 50% the alcohol was too much in evidence. I should have dropped a couple of ice cubes in it!

Maybe I just don't get Rose, but I didn't think it was worth the price. I tasted absolutely nothing of distinction in this wine. I paired it with grilled ribs (babies and spare) on a hot night, what I thougth to be perfect Rose weather, and I had to choke down the final glasses because my guests concurred.
I love KB, but hope this is something they get rid of and increase my PN allocation in the future!

Hot and disjointed. Not my style rose. Tastes like strawberry watermelon Kool-aid that someone spiked with alcohol. Wife says "this burns my throat". This is definitely not going to get any better so drink up (if you can stand it).

Yay! This has finally settled down into a pleasant (if alcoholic) pinot rose, with medium pink color, nose of raspberries and strawberries and alcohol, pleasantly dry with hints of fruit flavors. The alcohol is noticeable, but this is soooo much better than my last bottle. I guess these need time???

This is a very nice wine...chalky pomegranate, cranberry, strawberry, maybe some cinammon, middle eastern spices... LC nailed this blind as a Pinot...the alc is there, and gives a buzz, but it is nicely balanced by complexity that makes the wine pretty easy drinking and even refreshing. 4.0-

This is my first experience with KB, and I'm a little underwhelmed.
I don't have a lot of specific notes on this. Strawberry nose, very serviceable, but I guess I was expecting a lot more from this producer. Granted, there's only so good a rose' can be; I'm looking forward to trying their Pinots.

I thought to myself. If this was in a blind tasting with some V Sattui Rosato, which would win? Obviously if the labels were revealed, I bet most people would choose this. Served from cellar temperature. Initial pour had lots of alcohol on the nose and palate. Strawberries with a creamy finish emerged after an hour in the glass. Does this need decanting???? Maybe I was buzzed by the time I finished it but the table agreed this wine got better as the night went on. QPR wise, I don't think this is the best value for a Rose`. I bought this for $22 retail.
Reminded me of the Kutch Rose. Very similar in style for both wines.

Craig Vanderah's Annual BBQ (Pax, Kosta Brown, Beaucastel, Donjon, Turley, Loring, Neal): The color is a pale strawberry red. The nose is reserved but gives some pretty red fruit with coaxing. The taste is much better than the Pax. I would call this a fruit dominated strawberry/cranberry blend with excellent balance, good fruit presence throughout the taste, and decent lenght on the finish. Very enjoyable.

Similar flavor profile as previously noted. This time around the alcohol was nicely in balance with the strawberry (with a little melon?) flavors. Nice acidity as noted before but not as sharp and harsh. A much improved mouthfeel compared to the previous bottle. Very nice.

2nd Annual NYC Blind 2005 Pinot Shootout (Taste): Refreshing, I suppose, but it doesn't really have enough zingy acidity. It's getting better with each bottle, although I don't think I'll ever get too excited about this one. I much preferred the '05.

Had a great taste off with this versus the 2005 Château Pavie La Rosée de Pavie. I found this to have a more mysterious character though strawberry fruit showed through. Perhaps we found less heat than other because we drank the Pavie first.

While this does have spades of strawberry and can be appealing it is also a bit viscous, and in comparison to the 2005 it seems to me to be a bit simple and perhaps somewhat astringent. A lot of heat as well... I'm disappointed I must say.

Bright pink/rose color. Definite strawberry on the nose, with a hint of the heat peaking through. Strawberries and a subtle bit of watermelon on the palate. Crisp and refreshing. Drank at Mitch and Merry's, outside on the deck enjoying one of our rare warm summer days. I'm not sure Rose' is my cup of tea, although this was pleasant enough to drink. Consumed half a bottle tonight and will revist the rest tomorrow. Dark pink in color nose of strawberry and at first a bit of alcohol. After this warmed up, I started at fridge temp, it became more full of straberry on the nose. In the mouth I got pretty much what was on the nose Strawberry with a bit of Raspberry but none of the heat that was on the nose. Acidity seems about right, it does not jump out at you but it is there. Finnish is about 20 seconds, all in all a pleasent Rosé.

Sort of jolly rancher on the nose combined with an acidity you could almost smell, perhaps tart strawberry. Moving into the wine high acid light red fruits and a faint touch of tannin, make this mouth watering. could be solid with just the right food.Perception of high alcohol was its flaw.

Very pretty deep pink color. Strawberries on the nose. Nearly perfect balance. Completely dry with barely noticeable tannins. Strawberries dominate the flavor, with touches or cherry and raspberry. Finished the second half of the bottle two days later (Vacuvin'd) and it lost very little. The nose flattened out, with the strawberries giving way to alcohol, but I can't fault this wine. It was still delicious. I wish I had more than two bottles :-(.

Fruitier and sweeter than the Kutch Rose which is the only other rose I've had. Strawberry, red rasberries and a touch of watermelon on the nose and palate. Neither as good nor as bad as I've heard, this was nice and refreshing. I forgot about a glass worth which I had shoved in the back of the fridge for about a week. It was much more interesting at that point with the fruit less prominent, better acidity and more creaminess in the midpalate. Bodes well for August at the beach.

This wine was a bit spritzy at first, but a little swirling in the glass took care of that. The nose had candied cherry and strawberry aromas, and the palate had raspberry and strawberry flavors with a nice amount of acidity. This was a fun little Rosé, and the fact that it was from Kosta Browne didn't hurt either.

Raspberry and cherry on the nose and palate. This wine is not as sweet or mouthcoating as its younger sibling from 2005. A bit of heat on the finish, so it should be served chilled and with food. Great with grilled chicken thighs and leg of lamb steaks. Enjoy this summer quaffer.

Opened this up to share with friends. Regretted it immediately, as I would have preferred to have opened this up, curled up on the sofa and selfishly snarfed it up by myself! Accompanied home made bread with Pasolivo olive oil and fresh herb pesto. Magical.

No decant. Sweet strawberries and light cream on the bright and expressive nose, carry through on the palate along with a touch of citrus. Soft and round with good acidity, this has a some weight for a Rose. Picks up cinnamon spice and additional acidity towards the fine finish.

90 for a rose, this is a big boy, not for the salad and wine for lunch bunch, similiar to the Sonoma Vinyards Rose which is also a first round draft choice. This is called first run juice so it must be from the least mature final picking?

Deep rose with a slight orange tint. Sweet cherry jelly, eau de vie de mure and a touch of cinnamon on the nose. Very expressive for a rose. Big rose yet fresh and clean – not nearly as sweet on the palate as the nose would suggest. Rich texture and a touch of heat, this is a bit more serious than your typical summer drink. Lovely with grilled salmon. (86)

Typical pale pink color of mose rose wines. The expressive nose displays strawberry and cherry, but on the palate, the wine is a bit of a disappointment. There is some strawberry and spice, but they are overwhelmed by the 14.2% alcohol. The mouthfeel is fuller than most roses and it certainly carries significant weight. Unfortunately, some bitterness creeps into the finish, and combined with the alcoholic burn, it detracts from the quality of the wine. Overall, this was not my favorites at this point, however, I will let my other bottle rest in the hopes that it will turn into a swan.

On a cool clear Easter Day in Atlanta, the crispness of the air is echoed in the crispness of this wine. Fresh flavors of fraise de bois and mirabelles are revealed behind a very subtle nose. Today was the first nice day in Seattle. To celebrate, I grilled up some shrimp, chicken, and sausage for dinner and opened this bottle of wine. The wine has a very beautiful color. 14.2% alc...don't serve this too cold, the aromatics are incredible at 65 or so...bursting aromatics of strawberries, something verging on watermelon, exhuberant...as expected on the palate after a nose like that, this wine is super invigorating, refreshing acidity, light on its feet, yet full of flavor. Delicious. If and when I find this ANYWHERE retail during the spring/summer I'll snap up every bottle I find. Very nice. For comparison sake, this to me isn't Provence, this is richer without being any less fresh or vibrant.

An incredibly prefumey nose of ripe marichino cherry, strawberry, pineapple, banana, and some apricot. The rich rusty red color is unique. There is a crisp acidity along with a spritz of CO2 that recalls the fruity citrus side of a great Mosel Saar Ruwer Reisling (without the minerality). With substantial body, this very dry wine with over 14% alcohol can stand up to many foods I would think although I have not done so. A real treat and an instant favorite in my house, I think this is a wine which should hold up well for a couple of years, but I don't think I will ever know for sure. It won't last that long.
Well done sirs!

OC Kosta Browne Pay It Forward Offline (Sage in Newport Beach, CA): Had to add this bugger to CT--pretty cool to be first in on it. Lighter in color than the 2005, with a tighter, more earthier and spicier feel. Either a style change from the 2005 or the wine is still settling in bottle but much more restrained and lasered in.

Framed by a touch of acidity and tannin make for an enjoyable wine. Can't compare to the '05 and its glowing reviews, but I liked this served with BBQ ribs and stuffed shrimp.

Tasted May 28, 2007 at and offline. Opened and served immediately. Rose petal colored in the glass, slightly cloudy looking towards center. Light nose of raspberries, strawberries and a bit of dustiness towards the finish. Somewhat earthy flavors of Bing cherries strawberries and raspberries. Light acidity and body. Once again seem flabby to me. As the pros like to say “tasted twice with consistent notes”. Drink now.

Tried right out of the bottle....subdued nose so let it come up to 60+ degrees. It definately improved as it warmed in the glass. The strawberries exploded out of the glass. Medium bodied wine with nice texture and acidity. The finish was surprisingly long. Very enjoyable with a little air time but I would give this wine a little time in the bottle before revisiting.

On a cool clear Easter Day in Atlanta, the crispness of the air is echoed in the crispness of this wine. Fresh flavors of fraise de bois and mirabelles are revealed behind a very subtle nose. The mouthfeel is fuller and more lingering than the 2005, though the fruit isn't quite as pronounced as in its predecessor. Lovely spring wine for a lovely spring day. Popped and poured.
