Classically styled, firm, bright, crisp and almost racy, the bright, red currants, blackberries and cherries shoe up discreetly with their savory, peppery edge intact. The finish is crunchy, chewy, and firm, with a chalky accent to the backend of the minty, leafy finish. The wine blends 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2027-2055.

UGCB tasting-Amsterdam 2021 Bordeaux 03-04-2024: A light colour, a bit undeterminate bouquet besides wood and vanilla, medium body and a friendly finish.

A little shy at the moment, the 2021 Gruaud Laroses hows a lovely raspberry, leather, cedar profile on the palate with a little smoked meat. That typical Gruaud depth with a nice finish indeed. 93-94

UGCB SF Tasting Event (Metreon, San Francisco): Softer fruit, a bit more masculine and old-school. A bit of haughtiness to the profile and more stuffing in the mid-palate than most. Like the rest of St Julien, more overt tannins than most, but it works with the bigger, denser core. 93

UGC 2021 Bordeaux (Vibiana, Los Angeles, CA): The nose is balanced and refined with red cherries, cranberries, some leather notes, violets, herbs, spice cake, cedar notes, tobacco leaf, savory notes, and a slight meatiness. There is very good depth to this right now with a real expressive side. The Medium bodied feel shows off the balance and refinement of the nose with medium acidity and silky, medium tannins. The tannins show some youth but they aren't too overpowering. This is a classic Gruaud-Larose that leans into a lighter side of the spectrum. I can see this developing well with some age as there is good stuffing already.

UGC Bordeaux (Drake Hotel - Chicago IL): Walkaround tasting with the producers. Black fruits are brooding here with meaty spice. Firm start, then nearly achieving balance from the middle forward. Very good length. Needs time.

Union Des Grands Crus Bordeaux (New York City, NY, USA): Great nose...very fragrant and spicy (lots of new oak ~95%?). Elegant texture, nicely balanced. Both red and black berry fruit. Charcoal undertone. Lovely, long finish. Somewhat classic Gruaud Larose for me. The last wine I tasted today and certainly one of the best for me...Perhaps a little more air helped...?

UGCB Millésime 2021 (Montréal, QC, Canada): Plus réservé et moins expressif que Ch. Lagrange goûté juste auparavant. Bien droit et tendu. Difficile à juger le potentiel tellement c'est serré.

Dark in color, the wine kicks off with tobacco leaf, underbrush, herbs, olives, flowers and currants. On the palate the wine is soft, forward, fresh and fruity, with polished tannins, elegant textures and a round, sweet, red currant and black cherry finish. There is a nice spicy, fresh kick in the endnote of the classically-styled, bright, understated wine. Give it a few years to compose itself and it will show quite nicely. The wine blends 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc, 12.5% ABV. The harvest took place September 23-October 7. The yields were low at 29 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2025-2055. 92-94

From the fresh glass - Polished oak lends sweet spice and woody notes, the fruit is quite subtle and dark hued, a little plain chocolate as well. Medium plus intensity acidity – the black hued fruit is quite subdued on the palate as well; tannins are persistent and softly textured but there is a little hard green note here as well. Hmm

Lukket nese med moreller og tobakk. Lukket også i munn med blåbær, solbær, grafitt og litt tobakk. Meget lang.
