shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. put some into the pot with prince edward island mussels. enjoyed the rest as an aperitif. this was the most interesting bottle of this wine so far. initially presented with some oxidative wet cardboard but this blew off quickly. no fizz in this bottle. this bottle was vibrant and alive. tasting note comparable to last bottle which i described as: color is more straw like and less golden. the aroma is forward tonite with hints of misty sea breeze, spring flowers and lemon. the palate offers nicely balanced acitiy and fruit with more citrus and white stone fruit. some fullness in the mouth and a pleasing finish. hope i have similar luck with remaining two bottles.

Drank this 2007 Falanghina in 2011, possibly past its prime. Lemongrass and green tea nose. Nice acidity and strong citrus taste. We had this with swordfish in french spices; the pairing was OK - a chardonnay would probably have been a better match. This wine is refreshing and would be perfect for the summer.

We needed a bit of white wine for dinner but we didn't want a full bottle, so my wife reminded me that we had a bunch of 375s of these that I had bought for the princely sum of about $4.50 each including tax. The bottles are thin so they chill quickly when you throw them into the ice. This is not a great or profound wine, but it is a very enjoyable inexpensive fruit white wine that doesn't require great thought or other brain damage to appreciate. There's a floral nose, minerality, citrus and tropical fruit on the palate. There is a lack of intensity and a short finish, so it's only at the low end of very good, but it's a lot better that the white trash you get at, let's say, charity dinners and weddings. This wine has actually done well with an extra year in the bottle. The few bottles I opened last year were a bit raw and bitter. That seems to have abated and this is just a nice light fruit summer white that went well with the salmon/crab meat sliders for dinner.

shared this with vicki, leslie and pat. fall dinner celebration at sette cucina in bernardsville. enjoyed with bruschetta and cold antipasto. this bottle seemed a little fresher and more lively than the last one. although there is a little more fruit evident, it is quite restrained leaving mostly citrus qualities to enjoy. next time, will pair with oysters. the rest of the dinner was wonderful. i believe that the son has outdone the father.

had this at home with pat's special recipe- pasta with broccoli, string beans, sun dried tomato, stewed tomato, garlic, and oil. the wine is still fresh and crisp but the yellowing color and slight fizz suggest that it may be in early stages of decline. the aroma is unique to the flanghina grape but is missing the floral scents described by the producer. the wine is mouth filling. will finish these up through the remainder of the summer.

Clear, light gold. Refreshing young medium intense aromas of grapefruit, green apple and almonds. In the palate, it shows medium alcohol and body but the acidity is a tad low. Some waxy fruit notes come through on the medium finish. Drink up now.

Having a hard time with this one because I don't like it. It smells and tastes like bananas and melon, yes, and the finish is dry and short. I don't find it complex at all, or fulfilling in any way. The finish gets syrupy after awhile too... it's reminding me of that banana numbing stuff they give you at the dentist before injecting novacaine.

quite complex juice ! lemon zest with hints of lime evolve to light peach notes, toward the finish you get nice white floral notes with hints of chamomile, the strong natural acidity of this grape give this wine a very nice clean dry and long finish. the wine is complimented by its minerality and very light use of oak, almost not detectable but enough to give it a bit of richness in texture and nice elegant tannin found on the finsh. delicate and nuanced from start to finish ..... dont sleep on this one !!
Poued from a half bottle, and a straw color in the glass, with a boring nose of lemon lime that reminds me of a bubbly Sierra ist from Taco Bell. With a bunch of swirls, some hints of Pal bubble gum come out, wrapper and all. On the palate some hints of peach nectar show it's head a little bit, and some honey tries to come out. Ton of minerality and acidity that settle out asths wine warms up. The finish seems a bit bitter, and again, it seems like there could be some complex fruit that wants to rear its head, but it just doesn't. This came out of the fridge, so might try to have the next one at cellar temp. I think this was served too cold, and it's nuances are just not coming through. We'll see! 82 points. Cheers!

The intensity of the fruit is marginal, but I guess the winemaker is attempting to keep it in balance with the acidity that is non-existent. I waited until I tried the 3rd 375ml out of the dozen I bought before sharing my opinion, because I was hoping that I just had a bad bottle (or two). I love German riesling, so I know what acid is....and this has none. Zero. Wish that I could get my money back.

This is a great bottle of wine. First had Falanghina in Italy and we've really enjoyed this crisp white wine. Full of pears, soft grapes, melon and other crisp fruits. This is a great bottle that can be paired with any seafood/fish dish or to sip alone with fruits, cheese and crackers. the more we drink of this, the more we enjoy it!

Bright golden yellow. Lemon peel and ashes/burnt rubber on the nose, not very aromatic. Palate starts off with some light citrus notes then really picks up, mid palate and finish are like hard cider and seltzer water with lemon. I like the acidity on the back end and the finish is long and pleasant, but there's very little going on up front. I think this wine is interesting but it just seems hollow to me. Pass.

Waxy, nutty, oily nose of mineral, stone, stone fruits, with a beautiful, full, and complete mouth-feel. Full Laden with tropical fruit flavors, minerality, and a dense texture, all leading to a pure fruit finish. Drink close to room temperature for maximum pleasure. A singular wine of class and pedigree.

I bought this after tasting this producer's "Serpico", a really brilliant wine but a bit outside my usual budget. This has a quite nice if slightly obvious nose of ripe banana and lemon oil. On the palate it has good acidity with some bright citrus notes mixed with a slightly oily feel. The finish is short and overall I would say it's a nice quaffer on a summer's day with some salad, I even enjoyed it with some pork and mediteranean roasting veg.

Golden yellow. Neutral nose with a mineral character. High acid, light body, noticeable heat. Light muted pineapple with chalk mineral followed through a medium finish. Tasted this wine as part of a series of Italian vs. Spanish whites, did not stand out among the crowd.

Really aromatic wine and yeahhh, citrius aromas and notes of banana! and, sorry, something like glue or contact adhesive even (a defect?). Better thing was to feel it very dense on palate, well structured and balanced. Plenty of vigour. Very good, I like it but can not match a good peachy Fiano. Pairing seafood.

Very aromatic bouquet, plenty of ripe peachy fruit and some nuttiness to boot. Minerally fresh and zesty palate, with citrus fruit to the fore. As mentioned in my previous tasting notes, it still doesn't wow me, so it's never going to be a 90+ wine. But if you are looking for a wine to enjoy with a light al fresco lunch in the summer sunshine, then you can do a whole lot worse than this. Just make sure you work out in the gym first - takes a bit of strength to lift this chunky bottle!

Light-bodied, with a dilute texture, showing faint aromas of starfruit and spring flowers followed by vague flavors of peaches, honey, and cardamon. This wine barely registers on the palate. In light of the respectable ratings for this vintage (WS: 90; WE: 87; RP:86), a big disappointment.

Closed at first. At first, all acid and minerals. As it warmed showed more tropical fruits. Banana and suntan lotion on the nose followed by melon on the palate. Simple.

Much better than the bottle I opened a few weeks ago. Deliberately didn't overchill this one. Floral white peach notes abound, with some nuttiness too. The crisp acidity was a delight, balancing a quite weighty mid palate. It's likely this wine won't have you jumping with excitement, but it is well made, nicely balanced, inoffensive and pleasantly drinkable whilst young and fresh. Would buy this any day over most Italian Pinot Grigios at the same price level.

Maybe I served it too cold, but contrary to other tasting notes, I thought the nose was rather muted. There was some mineral stony nutty characters, and certainly some white flower and pear drops. But none of the bananas that so many others have noted. Palate was more promising, with nice zesty acidity and a good depth and breadth of flavour. Overall, you can tell this wine is well made, but it just doesn't excite me. Maybe it's the variety? Oh well, I have 2 more bottles of this vintage left, so until next time...

Chalk and bananas on the nose at first, giving way to peach and pear later. Silky, medium body. Long finish. This wine has many great qualities and I want to like it more, but in the end the citrus flavor profile is nothing special for me. High points for execution, though.

Very crisp white flower nose with wet stones and hints of banana and apricots. The palate is incredibly lively...racy acidity leaves the palate singing for a long time; lime, stony minerality, stone fruits. Ecxellent expression of this varietal, very pure and fresh.

The QPR of this wine is insane; the honeyed, bitter almond nose gives way to flavors of almond, lemon oil, and herbs. The finish may not last forever, but it has persistence and the wine is not a lightweight either. I'm planning now to bring it to next week's barbecue, although as it is on the North Fork of LI this may be a sacrilege! Too bad, they'll get over it. Delicious and cheap enough to cook with. Somebody find me a better wine at this price point ($11 - $14) after you've tried it.

Simple.

Floral aromas with delicate notes of banana. The scent is nicely cool, mineral and rocky. On the palate live, acidic, mineral and pleasantly fresh.

Yep Yep Yep. Very nice. Very clean. Nice balance -- fruit and acidity. Will buy again. Delicious, and I usually find most white wine lacking interesting bits...

Very crisp white flower nose with wet stones and hints of banana and apricots. The palate is incredibly lively...racy acidity leaves the palate singing for a long time; lime, stony minerality, stone fruits. Ecxellent expression of this varietal, very pure and fresh.

Nose: Banana dominates with some melon and fresh mint nuances. Palate: Bright and fresh acidity with the banana and melon flavors coming through. Finish is a little quick, but clean. This is a nice quaffer.
