Tasted blind. This was very hot on the palate, like right bank from a ripe vintage. The good news is, that it is not oxidative. The ripenessa nd extraction comes at the cost of the complexity though, feels a bit commercial. The palate has nice, puchy Italian tannins to balance the fruit. I am not a fan of Super Tuscans but this is well made.
Big and bold. Unashamedly modern and super-plush. Deep inky plummy fruit, spicebox, vaillapods and a touch of hoisin.... all wonderfully backed-up and balanced by only a pinch of Italian acidity. Must admit I liked this better than expected...!
Special International tasting group (@ Zarzo, Eindhoven, The Netherlands): In the bouquet dark berries and asphalt. Overall a mouth full of dark fruit impressions, very firm and a bit raw, but also very juicy and really complex and beautiful. Still in the young stage of its beautiful complexity. Beautiful acidity and tannin.
nose - sexy nose, sings fruit. Hints of olive. Reminds me of Masetto mouth - also sexy mouthfeel, oodles of fruit, a real show stopper. some midpalate coffee and long fine tannins. undeniably a great wine, in the league with Masetto.

Still very primary, fresh and lifted and also a little tight. Firm tannins here are screaming for some fatty food to balance it out. Definitely a delicious wine of serious quality but give it time. Decadent nose.

Ample amount of raspberry on the nose, hints of vanilla from use of new oak. The wine jumps right out of the bottle. Great acidity balanced with fruits on the palate. Very very delicious wine already at this moment, but it will benefit from aging for another 5yrs+ to develop tertiary notes.

BYO (My House): Tar, Camphor and very dense dark sweet fruit. The fruit still has a refreshing touch and it does not seem overdone or concentrated or overly sweet. Very intense and quite impressive! 95-96p

Drank the 06 and 12 Messorio today. Both are outstanding. The 2012 is so fresh and just a beauty. The 06 is developing very nicely and is drinking perfectly now. Bravo.

dark in color. Nose of herbs, sweet cherries, dark fruit. Powerful and long. Multilayered, close to perfect balance and smooth tannins. Higly elegant despite the power. Still young.

100%-Merlot themed dinner (The American Club): Beside the Galatrona, this felt bigger (more stuffing) but at the same time, somewhat clumsier. Some spice, plums and dark-berries on the nose. On the palate, lush with more notes of plums, blackberries and also a hint of heat/alcohol at the backend. This should get better given more time in bottle...

Le Macchiole Wine Dinner (La Pizza Fresca Ristorante): Young, juicy and fragrant. The lilac and violets aromatics melded with the aroma of macerated berries. A hint of mint and hazelnuts added a unique aromatics, followed by a taste of dark chocolate, tea and dried dusty carnations. The wine continued to burst with layers of new flavors. More complex and playful that the '99-01 trio. Supple, sexy, vibrant. Outstanding.

Concentrated ad luxurious bouquet with ripe dark fruits. Very open already. On the palate also very special and luxurious with dark fruits, spices and chocolate. Already a great pleasure and a long future ahead.

This mind boggling wine was an epiphany! Not having tasted it before, I was blown away by the multiple layers of silky, polished, lush, velvety, ripe, fresh fruit. The perfume, with its licorice, smoke, oak, cherry, earth and mint captured your attention. The long, exotic finish made you go back for more. Splash decanted and poured, this kept improving in the glass. My only complaint was the level of oak found in the wine. Some tasters will have an issue with that. This stunning wine is one of the best expressions of Merlot I've ever tasted that did not come from Pomerol. As you can see by my note and score, I loved this wine. If you do not have the funds to buy this wine, find a friend that does, it's that good.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Everybody was somewhat fooled by this wine. I thought it a ripe, right bank Bordeaux so guess I was somewhat in the right ballpark. Plum and prune aromas with lots of lush, ripe fruit. Lots of power, but not perfect balance for me today.

Tasted blind: Dark purple in color. Nose of ripe dark berries and herbs. Still some tartiness to it but elegant, long and powerful. Dark berries (Merlot licquor). Very complex. What a wine...

Inaugural of Martins new House (Martin Rickenbach): This smelled like a pineapple drink in a plastic cup, loved the smell as it reminded me of Hawaii! Pineapple yogurt rubber, lots of tannin and acidity. The oak was not yet fully integrated. Needs time
Alcohol :: 14.5% This is one of the wine that I wanted to try for long time! It was my pleasure to taste this. Almost dark in color that remain some transparency. Very tight, but clearly deep, broad shoulder with tons of sweet dark plummy fruits, scorched earth, hot sun framed firmly with licorice, anise, clove and new saddle leather and all remain focus and precise. A touch of alcohol showing on the super rich and intense palate with highly concentrated plum and blackberry fruits with underlying of spices and high level of dry extract that completely buffer and balance by the ripe, fresh acidity. The big structure dominated the palate flavor profile with high level of powdery tannin that is mouth coating and palate staining with spice and mineral that turn into long, creamy, power finish with bitter cocoa and dark chocolate after taste and hint of heat and lots of oak pending for integration. This is still so young but with super grip, drive, verve all come in a vibrant package. An excellent wine with great, great potential. Buy - Yes.

A Morning of Informal Tastings (Lam Soon): Popped and poured. Dark red. Ripe fruits and Merlot based character held on by the amazingly fine tannin structure. As with most great wines this shows freshness without sacrificing raw extract. I think this is an outstanding wine because it opens my eyes to the potential it has in the future. I imagine it to be like a young stallion which will become a great racehorse in due time. This will easily warrant a few more points when it has reached its peak. Outstanding.
