With Xmas Eve dinner of spicy lamb stew. This was a pristine bottle with a cork that appeared almost brand new. Effusive full nose of aged cedar, dried tobacco leaf, road tar and mature plum fruit. The palate is medium bodied and continued to pick up intensity and fleshiness over a couple of hours. Lingering finish. Great stuff from Ric.

Dark ruby. Stewed cherry compote nose, with some hints of bay, mint, shellac. Medium body, round acids, tannin stiffening with air, but not without reward in the flavors, which mirror the nose. A bit foursquare but with good intensity. Nicer tonight than the '87 and that's for the first time. Bottle #3 of three.

ORANGE BROWN ON THE EDGE. BLACKBERRIES AND MINT IN THE NOSE. DEEP BERRY FRUIT IN THE FLAVOR WITH BLACK CHERRIES, LICORICE, AND CHOCOLATE. MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.

Beautiful color, in balance. Cork looked like it was bottled yesterday.
