Candie Does Cassoulet (Candie's, Mpls): Dark red plus color. Drank a glass over 90 minutes. Kirsch, black plum, cherry, classic garrigue, black pepper. The palate is plump and juicy, kirsch, cherry, plum, garrigue, olive tapenade, black pepper, medium full bodied, with moderate tannins now. This still has some room to improve.

This great, traditional-style Châteauneuf-du-Pape is at a lovely phase at the moment, restoring my faith in the more matured wines of the region in general. In fact, this wine was outstanding for 3 years ago, but it is clearly even better now.
The wine is displaying stunning aromas and flavors of ripe blackberries and plums, herbs, tar, iron, minerals and earth. Contrary to many other Southern Rhône wines at this age, the wine gives a fresh impression, and it is not having any burnt taste at all. The wine is still richly, sweetly and intensively fruity. The tannins have already softened and integrated, but the tannic structure is still firm. Consequently, this wine is very enjoyable now, but it is still having many years of life ahead.

Easily WOTN for me. It's very much a 2010, at this stage more so than a classic VD. Concentrated, cool, stony, almost Northern in style, notes of olives and garrigue with the Grenache very much in the background - and to me certainly too young. This will be Grand Vin, I am sure, but I will leave my own stash alone for at least a couple of years before trying one. 94++ #NC80#BarVin

Magnifique et resté tellement jeune et sur le fruit. Attention, vin au gros dépôt qui demande à être décanté.
