Old Guys lunch on Tilia's lovely patio. In attendance CV/DM/JV/TS/SS/LI/KB. Great weather, great food & lots of laughs. Lonny's companion btl in the Chambolle flight. Well, this came with all the generosity my Anne Gros Chambolle La Combe D' Orveau was reluctant to give! In a word this was captivating! There's oak here but not the least bit intrusive & a real team player element. The nose grabbed me from the get go with its bouquet of roses & berries. Very enticing! This carried over to a very suave well fruited palate with everything you hope for in Chambolle. My Clear WOTD! I had the '18 on vacation in Florida a couple years ago and loved it too. Impressive! And, Lonny brought this back from France himself, so decent provenance :). 93+

Old Guys Lunch: Hittin' the Patio Again (Tilia, Mpls): Medium plus sruby red color. Slow-O for 3 hours; drank a glass over an hour. Cherry, high toned Asian spices, currants, bright spices, some oak, fairly elegant, just a little dry earth showing, medium plus body. Showing pretty well for its age. 91+(+)pts.

Friday Burgundy Cellar Visits - Paul Pernot and Amiot-Servelle (Cote d'Or): Tasting at the domaine. Red and black cherry aromas and flavors that get redder towards longish finish. Sneaky power, this has a gracefully weightless finish with very bright, dancing textures. Tasty already now, very cellarworthy.

Quatuor en Harmonie (Morey-St-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-St-Georges) - Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Château de Gilly-lès-Cîteaux): Walk around tasting. Almost the same volume as the 2018, but more balance and much more charm. Good depth and balance with sneaky length. 91-92 point potential.
